You can drag a horse to water, but you can't make him think...

(in this episode, our hero harps on about the discussion guidelines again. Those who are sick and tired of hearing about this can always go find another discussion more suited to their tastes.) I can't decide who is wasting their time more...me, or the people that continually post discussions that are going to be be deleted. I kind of think it is them...after all, occasionally people do listen to me, while they keep getting their discussions deleted. If you've read this far, let me tell you of one benefit of following the guidelines: Instead of earning for a small handful of responses before your discussion gets deleted, your discussion can continue to earn for you as more and more people respond. Following the guidelines benefits you as well as me...you even more so. You get the benefit of higher earnings. *I* get the benefit of seeing a cleaner list of discussions and get to spend more time responding instead of reporting. I know some users just haven't noticed the guidelines yet...you point it out to them, leave them a link, they read them, and then things are better. Other users...you can show them the guidelines. Several times. And yet they keep ignoring them...and keep getting deleted discussions...and eventually wonder "Why am I earning so slow?" Ah well...either they will eventually get the point, or they won't. Okay...morning rant over...for now.

Geeeees JJ I just turned on my computer and immediately went to the No Response list expecting to get my fill of reporting and what do I find...YOU. So I had to read this because I needed to wake up and I was just sure you could do that for me. Loved the rant, Know how you feel, Like your sense of humor but you and I know newbies (at least 50% of them) are not going to read anything, much less a normal sized post as compared to a sentence.... Maybe the next time you rant about cheaters and thieves and all those who get their posts removed for violations because they don't read the rules, you might want to write six or eight one sentence rants , one right after the others, and then, and only then you have a chance of THEM READING your post.

They might read them that way, but it would feel too much like 'spamming' to me...I'd have a hard time doing it.

oh I love the title, but I will not comment on the issue because I honestly dont know what to do with them or if I am one of the offenders as well. haha! I have to agree with you that yes you can drag the horse to the water , even encourage him to drink it but if he is not thirsty then he will not do so. People have a mind of their own , we can only comment , react, tell them how to do it but if they dont want to then nothing will ever happen.

Not you, but I've seen a couple people lately that just drive me insane. I've decided to give up saying anything to them.

@JolietJake ok wise action. Sometimes, I think its best to ignore what we cant tolerate to save ourselves the trouble and the stresses.

The guidelines on this site are simple, easy to read and even more easy to understand. You cannot oblige some people to read and even when they do, do they understand?

my guess is they either totally never go back and look at their older stuff, because they have no intention of commenting and stuff. or they simply dont care

You're right. I've seen a lot of comments and posts yours talking about this, and my question is, do you do it cause you want too much to improve MyLot or do you collaborate here? In both cases, thanks for cleaning this website of this rubbish.

I don't collaborate any more than any other user that tries to help keep the site up to certain standards.

Some real good points. I went over to the 'no response' list yesterday and I can see why there haven't been any. One sentence, idiotic subject matter. Are these people 14 or what? I was rather embarrassed for them. These types I don't really want on Mylot and I seriously hope they do not last long. Just sayin'.......

I refer to the rules every so often, because sometimes I like to be reminded and also to check to see if there have been any updates to them. Not such a bad rant, its a constructive one anyways.

I guess some people are just dense. I mean it's not like the guidelines are 10 pages long or anything.
