Gimme A Kiss

My husband grew up in the northwest corner of Massachusetts. When I first met him back in the 1960's there were a huge number of relatives there. The Grandfather that brought his family from Greece in the 1930's was still alive, all the siblings, all eight of them, Aunts and Uncles and cousins. It was always a busy place to visit and lots of children for our children to play with when we visited in the 1970's and 1980's. Life goes on. The young people, leave for college and a life in other places, the old folk die, the family homes are sold, but the memories go on forever. I visit Vermont where one of my husband's sisters still lives. Its so beautiful in Vermont in the summer. I visit her every year. We both like to see historic places and my few days with her is full and fun. The photo above is of a goat begging me to pet him. The Berkshire Mountains are in the background, its obviously late fall by the color and lack of leaves on the trees, and I know we were at a farm in Williamstown. It had a country store. I couldn't resist taking a picture and the goat did get his head scratched. I have no idea why I was there in the Fall. The photo says I took the picture on November 5, 2007 at 1:30 in the afternoon... Isn't it great that the digital photo gives us so much information? So why can't our brains remember those lost details? I live in Canada, a good 6 hours away from Vermont. I'm always visiting in the summer but never the fall. The only thing I can think of is we were there for a funeral. I guess our memory blocks some upsetting events. And that's probably a good thing.

@PainsOnSlate I think they can eat fences! The one in the photo came to visit us when we moved in and he brought his friend. He escaped more than once and he and his friends roam up and down the road once in a while.

@AbbyGreenhill It's a shame you're scared of them as they are lovely pets. The dog looks like a Maremma and this breed is designed to live with flocks of sheep or goats and protect them from predators. Not saying it is but that what it looks like! :)

Awe, you are a sweetheart and brought tears to my eyes.Thank you for your kind words. it is sad when life changes but it is life... Back in the day families stayed together but now the whole earth is so much smaller because of technology. I love visiting family and do it as often as I can. Its a treat to spend time in Vermont every summer...

Have you gone to the Calvin Coolidge historic site? It is very interesting and is near Ludlow. If you are going to be in Vermont for a few days let me know, we might take a ride up to have lunch, I will drive quite a ways for a good lunch lol Love the goat by the way.

I might have been - in Plymouth? I'm a Standish, Myles was my 8th great grandfather so we have visited all the history. I'm not sure about Calvin. The interesting thing I've learned is that grandfather was a monster in real life, short and angry. I will let you know when I'm going to be in Vermont again and lets try for lunch..Sounds good to me. I will message you for phone numbers.

This goat looks cute, they can be pretty annoying sometimes, but they are sweet animals.

What a lovely photo. Regarding the date - a lot of my photos say I took them in 2013 - I didn't even possess a camera then.

You must have not set the date when you got the camera. My son did it for me, he was with me when I bought it.

The goat probably wants a hug and wants to go sightseeing with you. I think the goat loves interaction as much as humans did.

Nice goat. We have also a goat. But she never like to tie and control her. She always like to run. Lol

Vermont is beautiful any time of the year, except for the nasty mud slides in the spring. We have a lot of friends who have permanent and vacation homes there. Love being in the mountains.

Goats are lovely pets. I'm glad you gave him a scratch. Some of the photos from our trip I've sorted by date which then tells me where they were taken. It's very handy.
