Mind Numbing Leg Spasms Wake The Dead

Every so often my muscles contract and if I am laying on my side what's left of my leg ends up popping up in the air – sort of like a kickstand. I haven't been able to get much sleep lately; if I can get an hour I consider myself lucky. The strange thing is that I nod off all the time when I am sitting at the table, watching television or listening to someone talk. When I think, "hey, great time for a nap!" I end up hopping on the bed and then I am wide awake. This morning I had the feeling I would be able to put my head on the pillow and pass out without having to read or watch television but that didn't happen. The wind was really bad and something kept hitting against the new front window. Couple that with all of the muscle spasms that I am getting because of the massive weather changes from the nighttime to the daytime and I am one cranky camper. Around six in the morning I was jolted from my sleep by a thumping sound and then a throbbing pain in my left leg. Somehow I managed to get turned around in the bed and my leg was smacking off of the wall. Not only was I having muscle spasms but my stump was angled just the right way for the side of it to hit off the wall. About three minutes later one of the boys came down and asked me if I knew what the noise was; earlier in the evening we had several power outages because of the wind and they weren't sure if there was something rolling around outside or on one of the patios. Since we live a stones throw from a cemetery any time there's strange noises, off sounds or reports of bizarre happenings we all sort of look down the street to the large black wrought iron gates and wonder if they are there to keep things in or to keep things out. Would you buy a house that's next to a cemetery? Do you think that ghosts are real? Have you ever had a paranormal experience?

Yes, yes, and yes. But I'm pretty sure I already told you about the haunted B&B an ex-girlfriend stayed in. Hope your leg gets better soon. That really has to suck.

@teamfreak16 I'm really lucky that the one manager takes pity on my and always sets aside a couple bud from new strains for me to try. The only problem is that if I go balls out with it and get totally stoned - when I do need it to help with pain it isn't nearly as effective as I need it to be. Two hits should be enough to kill the phantom pains but there are times when I do have to kill a whole bowl and just go numb for a while

@freak369 - Wow. That just sounds awful. If the MK isn't even making a dent, I can't imagine.

I think some medical experts can solve your problem

One of the so called experts insists that phantom pains aren't real and all the pain I am going through is in my head

I have a lot of sympathy for your sleep situation, I believe we are haunted by memories, not by ghosts. At least that is my issue. A cemetery would mostly be a peaceful place to live. I know the feeling of being exhausted, until I get in bed. I sleep more restfully in a recliner. I have not had a paranormal experience. I have occasionally had power outages. We do have fantastic wind where I live.

Our power kept going out last night because of the wind and the generator wanted to turn on in the worst way but as soon as I would hear it start ramping up the lights would come back on.

I am just meeting you ... and just read your post. It was so tense ... the weather sounds just too much! You didn't rest well.. You live just a short way from the cemetery. I do know ghosts are real. I have had paranormal experiences. I've had so much happen in my life. I have written about some on my blog where I write pain/grief as I know that best in my whole life. I write about such things only at times when I'm in the mood, right frame of mind to look back through my memories. I am unsure about buying a house next to a cemetery ... I'm sure it would be interesting. I loved your choice of words as I write ... 'we all sort of look down the street to the large black wrought iron gates and wonder if they are there to keep things in or to keep things out.' I hope the muscle spasms can stop. I have them from time to time ... and I know the pain is excruciating. Take care.

Truth be told there are three cemeteries in the area; the largest one is a public cemetery and then there are two small parish graveyards that are butt-against the large one. I do have several ghosts that dwell in the attic but I have been stuck on the first flood since my second amputation. They are rather mellow but I have had a couple of local teams come in to see if they could find anything out. The most you can hear on a quiet night is feet running up and down the hallway, laughing and doors slamming. With the age of the house and the history of the area, it's no wonder there's activity here and at other houses on the street.

@freak369 Do you ever become frightened? I'm so sorry about your amputations. I'm not going to ask you all kinds of questions ... I've heard about phantom pains and that they are real. You do feel things even if a limb is gone. I don't think I would like a doctor to tell me it's not so.

If you are getting so little rest, no wonder you are going to sleep at the table or whatever. I don't think I'd like to live near a cemetery and I've never had a paranormal experience. I do however believe in ghosts.

I have several ghosts that live in the attic, since I have been stuck on the first floor of the house for a while I haven't heard their late night antics but they've never been intrusive or anything beyond a bit mischievous

@freak369 Do you know their origins? How they come to be there? I'm not sure I'd like that.
