The U S Forest Service found two bald eagles who had been shot in a remote area here in Idaho. They don't know when they were shot but were found last week. This is our national symbol. Why would someone have target practice on two of these beautiful creatures? Residents here locally take their binoculars with them when they go walking on the greenbelt and watch up in the limbs of the trees that line the trail. A lot of time they can spot one perching on a limb. They are asking for any information people might have on who did this. There is no reason why someone who kill them. There is a $1000,000 fine for this, or whatever the judge may see fit. The Citizens Against Poaching is offering a reward. I am beside myself with rage. What possible reason would these idiots have to kill these raptors?

I do not know why someone would do this. I hope they are caught and fined steeply. We see them here in the late winter and early spring.

I feel so fortunate to live where I do. We used to take a drive in the evenings up the dam here and on the way you can see many eagles in the trees. Some of my favorite animals are the raptors. This just makes me sick.

@celticeagle I love the raptors . We don't see many in the UK. They say they are slowly coming back in parts further up the country. Coming home from the Cotswold in October we saw Red Kites and they were beautiful. We normally find a raptor centre when we are on holiday so we can see them.

I don't see any rhyme or reason for someone to do this. I hate it when people shoot down birds.

@celticeagle Even if these people are caught and fined, it is not a successful deterrent for others.

@Asylum ....But, being consistent in the laws is important. No, it may not deter others but these will have the justice they deserve.

That really bothers me, as those birds are an American symbol, and people need to respect them and not kill them. I really don't understand why anyone would want yo harm them. This really brings tears to my eyes,.

@celticeagle Yes it has. I hate to see any animal killed unnecessarily. I hate seeing animals abused either, and enough of that goes on too. When I see the commercial of the dogs and cats that have been abused, I literally cry, as they look so sad, and they sure don't deserve what they got, that is for sure.

What in the heck is the matter with people? They probably just thought big birds and not recognize eagles but they shouldn't be shooting at them anyway. It can't be real hunters or even shooters but morons playing and being stupid.

I used to know a guy that thought it was fun to go and use the cute little chipmunks as target practice. He and these people are not human in my estimation.
