Things not to post about on myLot

Christianity - it may hurt people that don't believe as you do Islam - the same reason Politics - the same reason Recovery/addiction - the same reason What you had for supper - maybe someone can't afford to eat Cats - maybe someone hates them The list goes on and on. It's been stated we shouldn't have our earnings displayed on our profile because it might 'hurt someone'. Then we should not talk about any subjects here, because not everyone agrees, and it might 'hurt someone' if we do. Sounds logical to me...

Oh, and we shouldn't discuss reading the Guidelines, either, because that may seriously damage someone's right to post whatever they damn well like and then complain bitterly because they don't understand why it was deleted.

No, it will not affect my rights to do that, because I just won't read your suggestions ... or I will read them and ignore them as is also my right.

How could I forget to list those? Yes, in fact, the guidelines should be removed from the site!

I do not think posting our earnings will hurt someone, but I am not sure it would help either. I just do not really want to post mine. I know you believe that for some it is motivation and for some it might be. For others it is pointless, there is no way to motivate them. If I do not like a discussion, I can just scroll on by.

@JolietJake I didn't realize it will be an option, that's good then. I thought it was something they were changing and it would just be there for everyone to see. It's cool as long as there is that option. =)

And, as Alex stated in his discussion, it is optional, which means you wouldn't have to show yours, while other users could choose to show theirs. I have no problem with someone that chooses not to show theirs, and I understand that...what I don't understand are those saying 'No one should be allowed to do it'.

I don't agree it will hurt somebody. I mean come on...the earnings are not extraordinary. I am fine with all other categories too. I am just not sure whether others will interact with me...ok..you've been here for 10 \years and you understand the system. New person even if I welcome him or her, may decide you are better because of the money ...and to tell you the truth that happens too. Your post would have a minimum of 25 responses whereas mine would languish between 8 to 10. Naturally, the person opens a post and can interact with 25 at one go. But with me he or she gets to interact only with 10. Who wants to open 10 posts when it can be done in 6 posts kind. Of course, since its optional, I am ok.

You forgot sports. Someone's team might have lost. But I'm still not convinced that there's much to gain by seeing others' earnings.

I agree with that reasoning as well. What would be gained from seeing someone's earnings? I don't think a person's earnings gives a true picture of whether that is someone you want to interact with. I like interacting based on what is written.

I'm not convinced there's much to lose, and I think people should have the option. I don't think anyone should decided if everyone has to do it, or can't do it.

Well I'm glad they are giving us the option not to show earnings. I don't agree with " not allowing" but glad for the option to opt out.

I am not real certain I want my earnings showing on my profile, and I know I have the option not to. If others want to show theirs, that is their business. I can't speak for other people, only myself. In a way, showing them might be a motivation to others that they can do it too, but then it can also lead to jealousy, as they woud feel bad, becasue othes are doing better than they are. It is hard to say at this time, if it would be beneficial or not.

@JolietJake It would be the ones that don't quite know how to earn in here. Sorry I didn't clarify that. There are people in here that always make more than me, and I am very happy for them, as it really gives me the incentive to try to do it too. I am doing a lot better this month than I ever have. I have made over a dollar yesterday, and the day before, and now that I have, I am hoping to do it every day, or at least the days I am here anyway. You do quiet well too, and I am happy that someone does, as now I am going to try to do it too.

Jealousy of whom, though? I've pointed out (quite often) that what I earn is not from what I post, but from the people that post to me...would they become jealous of those people? Or of me, who doesn't control; what those people do? Any jealousy would be totally unfounded, in my opinion, and would only further prove that they (the jealous person) really didn't understand what they needed to do to get those people active to them...

I personally do not think it is a good idea, which was the question. I do think that it will create jealousy in some users, and that is not a good thing. That being said, as long as it is optional, and the default is set to "off", then I am not opposed to it, either. By the way, thank you for sending me the suggestion otherwise I would not have seen that discussion.

I just don't see any reason for the money to show, see how much I respond and post? That has use. What possible use would be how much someone makes for the month?

Then there would be no reason for blogging. No one would have anything they could safely write about. It's a good thing there is freedom of speech.
