I did not take that gondola ride

In Amsterdam the guy who took us on that canal ride was honest in telling us why that water looked green and dirty. It was too late to jump off that boat and so I went through it all the plus point being that ride took us round amsterdam. When I reached Venice I did not join that 'Q' for the gondola ride as I was now equipped with the knowledge why the water looked green. Here is a link that tells you more. http://www.italoamericano.org/story/2013-4-5/Venice-Canals

If I have the chance, I will try to ride it. Since it is a chance of a lifetime. I will feel bad if not tried such a wonderful ride.

I have been in a barge in Amsterdam and I agree that the water in those canals is atrocious. As for Venice, I have no complaints at all about the canals. I still have a photograph somewhere of myself and an ex girlfriend in a gondola in Venice.

@allknowing We saw some young boys diving in the canal and swimming, which did seem a little extreme.

@Asylum If you have the time visit that link I have provided. Those boys must have been trying to impress their girlfriends oblivious of the water smelling to high heaven

Sorry that you had to stay on that boat at that point in time but you did have other things you sound as if you had fun seeing.

I have never understood why tourists love so much Venice, it's smelly, it's crowded and it's expensive. Weird!

It was part of our package But there were attractions such as St. Mark Square and Murano Glass Works. I also liked the beach

@allknowing I suppose that this is the case for most tourists, Venice is part of a tourist package.

Those who took the Gondola ride from our group told us that they did not like it as the water was smelling.

How lovely that you took a trip to Venice. I didn't know that the canal's water was that gross. It contains human waste, factory waste and home waste.

They should purify that before taking tourists on those rides,
