They are not the same. I grew up not having any idea.of any possible problem with it. My name. Sound simple.but not. My parents called.me with the name they gave me. I was baptized.with that name too, so we are all confident about what name is. But then... When we are processing our birth certificates, after our father's death (beneficiaries), we found out about my registered name. Quite different from the one.i have been using. So what will i do with it? I have to.follow that name.from the statistics office. Change all my records in school, with affidavits filed. Sigh. How come my name.was registered differently? The nurse.who assisted our mother while giving birth for me, was the one who registered me. Maybe she heard my name but not really sure about it, so she just go with the sounds like common name. Oh well... name can complicate things too. I still prefer to be called.with what my parents named me.

Can't you change your name to what you're known as now? If you have to changes records anyway it might be easier to change your registered name. Fancy no-one knowing about it till now.

Changing my name in the statistics record will be much longer and expensive. But i am hoping the agency will offer or will make a program about names and had it changed. Just a mistake with the gender on the certificate.. it takes long to change it. Sigh

Also in my country changing a name can be a long and expensive process. I hope you can use the name that your parent choose for you.

Oh no @Lucky15 , what a mix up. Sorry you have to change all your records! If you are used to the name you are called, keep using it with friends and family, and use this one you discovered now for documents and so on only.

I''m sorry your name got messed up by the nurse when you were born. They did the same thing with my daughter's name, but I didn't have the money to get it changed the way it should be. It's not spelled wrong, just the middle names are in the wrong order. My daughter has four names.

You have the same experience with my cousin. He had to go through changes in school records, get affidavits and all required to change his name from leonor to his actual name he uses jose. He had successfully changed evrything.

That is confusing. I had a similar problem when I moved here to Quebec, so some of my documents now show my maiden name and some my married name.

I would prefer what my parents called me. It would feel weird to be called by a new name all of a sudden.

I also got my name changed here in the Philippines. Good luck with changing your name. It just really takes a lot of time... of waiting. hahaha! I've been using my name since I was a kid. My baptismal certificate name is what I've been following not my nso name, so it was easy to change it since all my records have the same name except the nso one.
