Socialising on the Weekend

We have an interesting weekend coming up. On Saturday we 're driving about an hour to Quindanning Hotel, a very old hotel in the middle of the countryside. Fifty-eight of us are gathering there for a reunion of all my old classmates who started high school in 1958. Some are staying in the hotel and others are camping. We have had a few reunions over the years. This one will celebrate the year that most of us will turn 70. It should be a lot of fun. Sunday we will drive home, pick up our bus-turned-motor-home and drive an hour south to Bridgetown to attend a film called Walter. A local girl, Emily Barker, wrote the score for the film. She also wrote the theme tune for the TV show Wallender. Emily has also performed at the Music Shack. At the time we weren't aware of her many talents but she had been recommended as a talented singer and song-writer. After the film, Emily will give a brief concert and participate in a question and answer session. There will be drinks and nibbles available. Friends are taking their caravan, we will have our bus and we'll be able to stay the night in the town and not have to drive home. It should be a great weekend.

That's a very fancy reunion. Our high school reunion consists of a dinner and sometimes the cops arriving...I've never attended one. Have fun it sound interesting.

People come from everywhere so this way there is accommodation available and no-one has to drive home.

We are very lucky to have the bus. The bed is very comfortable. We always sleep well in it.

Yes, that's our bus. I'm pretty proud of the fact that we fitted it out ourselves. We couldn't afford to buy one 'ready-made'.

It's a really comfortable bed. We have an eggshell layer on top which seems to make a difference.

Reunion of old school friends appear a very brilliant idea. You could re-live all your old memories and enjoy listening to each other. All the best.

if that is a picture of your motor home, you are lucky. I think I can even live inside permanently, as long as I can get access to toilet and kitchen.

We fitted out the bus ourselves. There is a lovely kitchen, toilet and shower and even a washing machine. It would be easy to live in it.

Thanks. It should be fun! Even if we are all getting a bit deaf and a bit slower. For instance, I don't think we'll be staying up all night as we might have once.

Sounds like a special weekend coming up! I can't get over the numbers - it's 58th reunion of class that started in '58 and exactly 58 of you will be in attendance. Were those coincidences or they were really planned that way?

Sorry - it's not a 58th reunion. We started high school in 1958 and there'll be 58 of us there. That's just coincidence. But it will be a special weekend. :)

It was actually although the same type of bus was also used for city passenger services. It would make a comfortable home.

Vince knows nearly all my class mates as we both went to school in the same town although he went to the convent. Many of my high school friends started school in the convent then went to the high school.

@DianneN Not all the spouses come but many of us married within our communities I guess. West Australia wasn't a very big place in those days. Well, it's the same size now but you know what I mean!

The bus isn't back from the garage yet but hopefully we'll get a call today. It had a tiny oil-leak which we wanted to get fixed.
