Hurray! Hurray! Another UFO Completed!

Last night I finished another UFO. This one has not been languishing long on the pile. I didn't start it until last spring. There are other projects that have been in progress for much longer. The next UFO has already been picked up. It is a bonus of sorts and will be bittersweet to work on. The next project is based on six embroidered quilt squares I found in with my mother's mending. It will be completed and gifted to my newlyweds nephew and his wife. They were married just a week before my mother passed away, and were the only newlyweds not to receive a quilt she had made. The quilt I have just completed will also be gifted to a family member, just waiting to decide who gets this one.

But this isn't the quilt mom started. My next post will show my progress with the embroidered blocks.

I'm not known for my patience. I discovered a long time ago that patience is not the key. It's wanting to do something, and being willing to risk failure.

Uhm I'm sorry if I missed something but what does UFO mean? Because I've just commented on a discussion about aliens and I was thinking maybe...

Currently I am working hard on the quilt my mother started. I am still on target for having it finished before Mother's Day.

The picture of the quilt is a beauty, you are so fortunate to be able to make them. I used to make some quilts but have problems now with my hands and arm and it is just to hard for me. I am sure the newlyweds and other family member will be so grateful to receive those.

I find it harder to get down on the floor to pin the layers together. I also find it harder to get up and down when I lay it out on the floor before sewing it all together.

That piece is incredible - the colours, the pattern and the stitching. Did you do all that by hand or machine. From where I'm sitting it all looks perfect. I would never start a quilt because i know it would not be completed.

Looking through all of these posts related to quilting is sure making me want to get out any one of my UFO's and getting to work.
