Left Outside

A friend of mine in Mesa, AZ was telling me that someone left a newborn baby in a basket on a doorstep.
This used to happen a lot until Arizona passed a Safe Haven Law that allows a person to leave a newborn at certain locations such as fire stations, hospitals and churches without fear of criminal prosecution.
Why would anyone leave a small newborn outside to be found and not take the child to one of the safe havens listed.
How uncaring is that?

That is beyond sad. It is terrifying that someone could do that to a newborn baby. There are so many other options available, but I guess we will never know a person's reasoning for doing something like that.

It is terrifying to think what if that child was not found it could have been there for days the poor little tyke.

You would think they would want the baby to be in a safe invironment instead of just left somewhere on a doorstep.

@Marcyaz Yes, and you never know what things he or she would be exposed to during that time.
Leaving a baby in a dirty diaper with no food is bad enough, but those could have been the least of the problem this baby faced.

going to say they find the person now that's a criminal act, you take the baby to a safe haven and you dont get in jail

I hope they do find the person and throw them in jail as they did have a another choice.

Either they just didn't really care or maybe they didn't want to be seen doing it to feel ashamed and embarrassed. Either way, it's still wrong. I feel really bad for the poor little babies.

It might be they don't really care or just didn't know what to do.

It's sad to hear that. The person who left the baby there would definitely hopes someone would pick up the baby and take care of him, but isn't that act unsafe? As you said, the baby might not be found or he might be bitten by other animals? Moreover, leaving a baby there alone would definitely make the baby feel unsafe and uneasy.
Though I can never understand why there would be someone abandon the newborn baby, if they really can't take good care of the baby, they should at least bring the baby to a safer place, as you said.

That is really sad that someone would just leave a child on someones door step like that instead of taking them to a safe haven. All I can assume is that it is someone very young that had a child and didn't have a way to get to somewhere further away like a hospital. Usually when things like this happen they find the woman and she gets in trouble. I hope the baby is safe now. Imagine if no one came to the door and the child sat out there and a wild animal attacked it or something. So many scary things could have happened.

We don't know the story so I would hate to judge. As long as the child is safe what more can a person do for now?

We can only speculate on why this was done but I myself can see no good reason for it.

Sadly it happens so much. The baby was lucky the mother didn't try to kill him/her after being born like so many cases. At least it had a chance at life.

Very sad that people feel they can leave a baby out like that but like you said at least the child will have some kind of life.
