The Second Tallest Building In Manchester

I love Manchester’s Co-Op Insurance building, known as The CIS Tower. For decades it was our tallest building, and only true skyscraper, a little bit of New York of our very own.
Now other towers have risen round it, though it still dwarfs the nearby Arndale tower, but the colossal Beetham Tower Hilton Hotel complex (which I may be visiting later this month) dwarfs even the CIS rendering her our second tallest instead of the highest structure we have.

A very impressive shiny tower for sure Arthur. I had never seen Manchester. I imagine it is a very vibrant diverse city.

yes, it tends to make the next architect want to build higher still

I don't know why we need all the tall buildings. Makes a handsome skyline.

@celticeagle tall buildings save ground space by saving having lots of smaller structures eating up the countryside

I am looking forward to seeing inside the Hilton over Easter @boiboing - the building from the outside

How many stories? Surprising a Hilton hotel can dwarf it. Usually giant hotel complexes are relegated to Las Vegas.

Don't know how many storeys but the CIS tower is exactly 400 feet tall - a baby compared to its US cousins of course

It's much higher than anything in Colorado Springs, that's for sure.
