The Man with One Shoe

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one on MyLot, but when I'm out on the bike, I use clipless pedals (Crank Brothers Acids, if you're keeping score.)
Last summer, it was time to swap my old, worn-out cleats for new ones.
I couldn't get one cleat off, so I took it to a locally-owned bike shop to have it drilled.
Back at the bus terminal, waiting for the bus, I stood there holding my one shoe. The guy behind me asked me "Yo, man, what's up with only one shoe?"
So I proceeded to tell him about my reason for my visit to the bike shop.
Then I realized that, to well, everybody, I must have looked strange holding one shoe. "Dude is so stupid, they sent him out the door with only one shoe." I imagined them saying such things.
I actually thought the whole thing was funny, but if you're a cyclist, and you only need work on one shoe, consider bring both shoes along.

Yes, that would be more entertaining. Like the time in Germany I purchased two copies of the same CD, which had the girl at register perplexed during the entire transaction.

How about this:
"Remember that Tom Hanks movie, The Man With One Red Shoe? We're filming a remake and I'm Tom's body double."

"Don't we have some business? Some red shoe business?" Hilarious movie. I never would have thought of using that while I was standing there.

@teamfreak16 I'm surprised you went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and not Target or KMart or similar.

@JudyEv - We were headed up to the mountains for a weekend charity mountain bike event. BB&B was the first place we saw.

It's like the time I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and bought one towel. I only needed one towel. The cashier loved it because, as she put it, only a guy would buy only one towel instead of having to purchase the entire set.

I used SPD's on my old road bike just so I wouldn't have to buy a second pair of shoes.

@Ronrybs - I have had four pairs, but not at the same time. The ones I have now are my favorite.
