This is a very common problem with all age groups without any gender discrimination. The decay starts with the formation of Cavities. The cavities are the damaged regions on the enamel of the teeth. This develops into openings and holes in the teeth. If proper action is not taken it may lead to tooth decay and many problems affecting even the digestive system. The main reasons for formation of tooth cavities are 1. Improper cleaning of teeth: If the teeth are not cleaned properly the flake formed over the enamel of the teeth may cause and lead to cavities in the teeth. 2. Frequent intake of snacks and other items in the name of TIME PASS will definitely cause cavities in the teeth. More intake of snacks means more bacteria and formation of plaques which is acidic in nature and this will affect the mineral content in the hard surface of the teeth. The result will be formation of more cavities 3. The bacterial action is chiefly responsible for the formation of cavities. The food and drink we take will be having sugar content. If the sugar content is not removed off by cleaning the bacteria will react with the sugar and this results in the production of acids which generally leads to the formation of bacterial plaques. It will stick to the teeth and leads to cavities A research study emphasized the need to clean the teeth during the night also. It is recommended more than cleaning the teeth during the day for a healthy and hygienic teeth.

I am in the minority. I am 51 years old and have never had a cavity. I did have one tooth that chipped and had to be capped and I did have my wisdom teeth cut out, but no cavities.

@shivamani10 Yes, I am lucky. According to my Mom, I inherited good teeth from my Great Grand Father on her side. He lived to be in his 90s and only had 1 cavity in his whole life. So from what she has told me, having good teeth is inherited.

The good practice is brush them smoothly using brush with soft bristles. Better do not forget to brush in the nights. Morning you can do it again.
