One place I always enjoyed going to was Jerome, Arizona which overlooks the Verde Valley on route 89 between Sedona and Prescott. It started out as a mining town but now is more of an artist and tourist community. I always enjoyed the drive up the mountain and the view of the valley below. It is not far from Flagstaff, AZ either.

We have missed Jerome, we went from Phoenix to Sedona, but I think to remember via the freeway.

@LadyDuck If you ever go to Sedona again Jerome is only about 40 minutes from there.

I've been through Tucson and Phoenix many years ago but never got to go to Flagstaff, I've been told it's a hodytody tourist town for skiers in the winter but this is the first time I've heard of Jerome, I wonder if I'll ever want to travel again, AZ isn't too far off so it would be an interesting road trip. Thanks for the info.

@rebelann If you ever get down that way Flagstaff has a snowbowl if you ski that is up at top of a mountain, I have been up there and it is a nice drive. Jerome is a wonderful town to visit but not very well known. Your are more than welcome, my friend.

@JohnRoberts Have you also gone to Oak Creek Canyon? I love that place and used to rent a cabin there in August when my children were young.

@Marcyaz It is too bad when I visited Arizona that I did not see Jerome. I have been to Flagstaff and Sedona and Phoenix.
