Do you write books?

Ok, we are all here to chat and have a nice time discussing different topics. That made me remember that I had a dream to become a writer and publish my own books, and many of my friends had the same dream, too. I even started several times different "beginnings" of books, but I always gave up. What do you think? Have you ever tried writing a book?

I usually write books with short stories for basic reading. I am teaching basic reading to young ones every summer and I noticed that each of them has a different level of capacity. I decided to write short stories, compile it, and make it as a book but they are for personal use only. Not yet the one good for publication.

@Lusye28 no harm in showing them to others. You'll never know if they'll gonna like it unless you show it.

Yes, I see what you mean, the stories are meant for another purpose, not for selling. But it's great you can write them. I have some writings myself, really small ones, but I'm not sure I want to show them to anybody. ;)

@LdeL0318 You're right. But I'm afraid about the "not liking" part becoming true.

I do. bit by bit. I tend to write on whatever paper I can find when inspiration hits me so I have this note books filled with scraps for my story. I'm actually planning on drawing a map for it when I get the chance.

Sounds great! I still keep the files for my started chapters somewhere on my computer, but I don't even remember where exacted I've saved them.

@psyedelicbworm I hope so, but my computer is filled up with different stuff after re-installing it several times and it's hard to ever find something. I couldn't even find my CV recently. :D

@Lusye28 I've done that a couple of times until I lost some chapters so I went back to actually writing them instead. Hopefully you'll have better luck finding them than I did.

Right now I'm writing a book. I've always wanted to write one, and now I am. I do hope I am able to get it done and published but we'll see.

@Marty1 I do plan on just keep working on it, and keep writing on it. Once I'm done, I'll definitely see what my options are for publication. But for the moment, I'll focus on the writing.

I am currently working on one of the slew of books that I have planned to release. I plan on self publishing the first one, we'll see what happens with the others.

To tell you the truth, I've tried talking it over a recording session and then transcribing it, however it's even more time consuming for me.

I have written a couple of short stories and I would like to turn them into a book one day, but it will take a while before I get that far. I need to work on them again and make some adjustments. I also have 4 stories that I didn't finish yet.

I have never tried to do so Lusye. It takes really something special in my mind to be able to write a book. It seems a long arduous, tedious task to me. I dont want to do it. There are some published writes on myLot. I have one ladys book, but she has passed now that used to be on myLot. I know of a few others here also.

Yes, I noticed there are some writers after I posted this topic. It's good to hear people like to express themselves in this way. It's difficult sometimes for me to get a new idea and to continue with what I'm writing.

I've started one and stopped after about 30,000 words rough and not very good. Its on moth balls. But now I wonder if I started another what it would be on. I just don't know for sure.

@Bluedoll Well, you can always try, that doesn't hurt. :) Or maybe you can try finishing the first one. 30 000 words are how much, 120 pages? That's a whole book, wow. :)

I'm in the process of writing one. I've been writing it for a couple years. I have connected with several self publishing authors on social media and it keeps me writing seeing what they have accomplished.
