Spring Is Hiding

Canada

I'm not complaining. the forecast for today was nasty. Sub zero temps, rain or snow, I have been out today and its cold but not nearly as bad as that forecast. Just a few days ago I was outside taking some pictures and there was music in my ears. i had to listen carefully to understand what I was hearing. It was a song bird joyfully singing beautiful notes into my ears. I didn't see who was singing and I didn't recognize the song but it was letting me know Spring is here. I am impatient and i want Spring NOW! The photos are of the first bloomers in my gardens. If you live in a cold climate. is your garden blooming yet? Happy Spring!

We are by now so sick of cold and ice even if we weren't here all winter that all we want is warmth. Before I had a knee replacement I skied and loved winter, Now that i can't ski, I'd rather not see snow.

@PainsOnSlate I can imagine that you would miss skiing very much. It must be a marvellous experience to go sailing down a ski slope - I mean skiing down a slope.

lovely photos! 'twas out gettin' me some this morn 'fore the winds tatter the blooms here too badly. we've been'n our 'norm' roller coaster ride 'f spring 'round here. schtuff's bloomin', record high temps, a few truly beautiful days sprinkled in 'mong holy flyin' cow patties will somebody please shut the wind off 'n what'cha mean that 40's gonna be our high?? i'd sure love to cabbage onto some rain/'r snow though, 'tis purty parched 'round here. we'd jest gotten outta severe drought status this past summer, only to be back into drought thus fer this year. aint severe yet, but if'n we don't manage to capture some moisture, it aint gonna be purty. daff's 'n grape hyacinths've been bloomin' here since the early part'f february. the bradford pear put'n a grand show 'fore the winds came 'n ripped those delicate petals right off the flowers. the redbud's finally bloomin' 'n the flowerin' crab apple's joined in's well.

I find wind to be annoying although we don't get it often. We are surrounded by huge trees and limbs fall all over the place. We toss them down into the ravine...We had rain and sleet all day yesterday. I didn't get out to get a photo!! Darn! You are so far ahead of us with spring. nothing on the trees yet, it looks bleak outside.

@PainsOnSlate ya truly'd dislike bein' 'round here this month, lol. darned schtuff's blown purty much the entire month, spare a few gorgeous days. 'tis sad to see the beauty 's its ripped from the boughs. i sat'n watched's the bradford pears' flowers lost their battle with the high winds. kinda looked like giant snowflakes comin' to greet the ground. lots'f lost branches 'round here, i gather'em up 'n put 'em out where the ol' windmill used to be. i've a fence 'round such 'n a steel cover to block the hole left. pile'p branches 'n cuttin's off the junipers 'n cedars 'n call't my lil bird sanctuary. the pheasant 'n quail tend to take shelter there when the hawks're out'n 'bout. i'm attachin' ya a pic'f a lil splash'f color'n hopes it brightens yer day :D big hugs!!

I'm sure my weather is pretty similar to yours as we live fairly close by. We had some lovely weather, then it turned cold again and we actually got a bit of snow on Thursday or Friday! Ew! I would be perfectly happy with some Spring type weather!

The end of winter is so unsteady, the weather changes as fast as you can blink. At least now we have forecasts to warn us, can you imagine how hard it was in the olden days not knowing except by how the animals are acting and how much your bones and body hurts to let you know what is coming.

daffodils are going crazy here the crocus have mostly finished up blooming. Tulips are starting to bud. Even was able to get some cold weather veggies in the ground like cabbage and Brussels sprouts. was supose to get snow yesterday but it passed us by I would have loved a few shots of daffodils covered in snow.

@PainsOnSlate we are about to get cold again we go from warm one week to cold the next. Still trying to learn to navigate this site and finding the time to get here lately has been almost impossible. Took me this long to just find this reply :( because of the way the site is designed LOL

The flowers in the pictures are beautiful. Is the flowers in the first picture called snowdrops? I read that in a picture book, but I have not seen such flowers here before. Hope Spring will be there very soon.

It is very hot here. The flowers are doing very well in this kind of hot weather, but humans are practically wilted! I just hope that the hot and dry weather will get over soon.

I do not blame you for looking forward to spring, spring is awesome! I too love spring. But, summer was blisteringly hot, and the mosquitoes were a major pain, so, now I am so looking forward to Autumn @PainsOnSlate . Those blooms are lovely!

I know or have two climates, summer and winter (when it rains and hot weather also) only heat is throughout the year every year! as I would like to live in the snow, but then the snow are complaining about the cold and always wish to live on the beach, no one is satisfied with nothing.

Those flowers are beautiful. I am imagining they are large blooms because you get the moisture and you have fertile soil. Am I wrong?

Wrong the white ones are tiny, we call then snow drops. The other two are crocus, not tiny but small - golf ball size. They are pretty, I love them..

Leaves are beginning to bud on the trees. I haven't seen any flowers popping through the soil yet, but I'm sure they're coming. Snow is coming, too! Tomorrow is our first day of spring and we're in for a snow storm. "Mother Nature" has a huge sense of humor!
