Do Not Wish It All Away...

photo of Chapel entrance I took

We met when we were 17 it all seemed such a dream. Young love they said, how would it end? They simply could not see. See that it would thrive and last, years would fly past, always too soon, all in the blink of an eye really, full of lifes highs and lows, clearly. Because that is what life is made up of, you see. No such thing as perfection, I say without inflection, it is just a fact, that life is indeed summed up like that. Blessed I was to have more highs, saw the world with my love by my side. Joys and laughter, tears and sorrow, no promise of a tomorrow. So, embrace all that this life is, do not wish it away, they say, when I see how fast time went, I have to say, I agree. I wrote this in honour of my Aunt. Her and my Uncle met when they were 17, they were then married for 56 years. Before it all came to an end. Friday the 18th was her memorial service. May she Rest In Peace. The photo I am sharing is of the entrance of the Chapel where the memorial service was held. Take care everyone!

So nice! What a very meaningful poem. As one bids goodbye after good years of togetherness, it is really sad but that is the reality of life.

@mom210 , thank you. Like my Uncle said in his speech at his Birthday, they started dating when they were 17, and all these years later they were still dating. There was something special there for sure, before she passed away so suddenly.

That made me tear up, I have been with my husband for 50 years and I can't imagine trying to go on without him. Very well expressed in your memorial.
