Water Everywhere

I saw this very cool water display at the Chicago Garden and Flower Show. What I wouldn't give to have this in my yard. The thing is just huge. I would say each bowl or receptacle is at least 4 feet across. While I would love this I'm sure we don't have the room nor the money this would cost to have. But it's beautiful and I stood and looked at it for some time. It seemed to be a big hit at the show. Many were standing looking and taking pictures.
I am wondering how or if the water recycles. I'm sure it does but the how escapes me. Do any of you have water features in you yards or gardens?

Since we have a pond and a pool we don't need another water feature. We have had fountains at other homes

@fishtiger58 The original owners had the pond dug, there are two springs feeding it so the perfect spot for one.

I would say that this display was 10 or 12 feet tall. I'm sure it costs a fortune

I do not have a water feature, but I would love one. I think that they are gorgeous.
I imagine that the water being used in the water feature in your picture is being recycled. There is probably a collection container under the rocks. Otherwise, that would be extremely wasteful.

@fishtiger58 Some day I will have a water feature as well, but it will take a while. I hope that you are able to sweet talk your hubby into making (or buying) you one sooner ... maybe even this summer.

I'm sure you are right, but I can never figure out how things work. I would love one too but this one is just to big. Would love something similar but smaller. Going to have to work on the hubby, sweet talk him lol.

In my landscaped garden design concepts I have included several water bodies including falls, cascades and fountains. It is very easy to design a waterfall or whatever however small. I have one in my garden which is a 2 horse power fall. You can have as small as half horse power pump to deliver.
All the water that you see goes back to the reservoir which gets sucked back and forth with the help of the pump which stays hidden.

I have a water fountain in my yard. I also have a swamp on the property as well. We have recently purchased baby ducks, to put in there when the are older.

That's really nice. Maybe a miniture version of it will look good for home gardens.

It would. To even be affordable for most people it would probably have to be 1/4 the size or smaller. As well to fit in most yards or gardens.

@amadeo Wow, when I lived 5 miles south of the Chicago border we had Chicago water, we paid like 30 bucks every 2 months, now in this little town 50 miles south of Chicago we pay about 45 a month.

It has to or the cost of the water alone would be prohibitive. Water in my town is a bit costly.

O, that is not applicable here in our backyard as during summer there are lots of mosquitoes . . they may use it to lay their eggs!

Mosquitoes will only lay eggs in stagnant water, If the water is moving they won't.

@fishtiger58 You are right. I was thinking of the bowl of water I put in our backyard for the birds last summer. . I found some wriggling baby mosquitoes.

That is gorgeous. I'm pretty sure the water is recycled, there must be a tank underneath and the water recirculated.
