The Golden Years

My vision is blurry, I can't see a thing. My ears are infused with a permanent ring. My nose is just useless, sitting there on my face I can't smell a thing not even the Plaice My jaw is a'cracking with each little bite, Oh me oh my I must look a fright. My neck is so stiff I barely can move, My back is a mess, it feels as though it is fused My hips are ajar, they make me fall down I can't take a step or I'll hit the ground My hair is a permanent mess It's all in a huddle like a little birds nest. My boobs they are going permanently south My lips look like I am always down in the mouth My eyebrown are losing each little hair My lashes look like they never were there My toes look like sausage, my ankle are huge They look just like Sasquatch's you see in the news. I may sound like I'm complaining but truly I'm not I'm just stating facts of what happens, that's what. As you start getting older thing move quite a bit And grow to be giantic in spots before you know it It may be the Golden Years but I'm telling you what I'd rather go through them, the alternative is not so hot.

So this is what I have to look forward to? Oh yeah, I already have a lot of those things. LOL! Keep on keeping on.

@HazySue Except some of those things I've had since I was in my 30's because of my fibromyalgia.

Lol - I wrote a poem a few days ago taking the complete opposite view. There are two sides to any coin. This is very well written, I like it a lot.

Great poem there but honestly I would rather look at the better side of life and that is how I am surviving (lol)

@allknowing I survive by poking fun at myself. I am a very positive thinker that knows positive thoughts can work miracles. I just like to break out and laugh about it every now and then.

Reminds me of Matthias, from the house-search scene in Monty Python's "The life of Brian": MATTHIAS: Me? No. I'm just a poor old man. I have no time for law- breakers. My legs are grey. My ears are gnarled. My eyes are old and bent. By the way, what's missing at the end of the line "I can't smell a thing not even the ..."?

@HazySue "human race" would work - most of'em are pretty niffy a lot of the time, after all...

@pgn I couldn't think of anything so I left it blank. Have any ideas? It has to rhyme with face. I sort of painted myself in a corner, so to speak.

@PainsOnSlate You would be surprised at what I am willing to put up with to keep breathing. I kind of like to breath.

@fishtiger58 If we don't laugh at our selves we might just cry.

This speaks vividly of the reality that happens as we grow older. How nice that you were able to put all these in one poem!

I don't like to read about it in black and white. Ugh! It was a great poem however.

@marlina so have I. But looking back on my life I have found that each stage of it has it's own pecularities.

Great poem and I can relate to all of it. It's not that much fun getting old sometimes but funny poems help.
