Terrorism again.

I had come to the computer directly from my bed so I did not turn on the TV until breakfast. There I learned about the new terrorist attack in Belgium. I hope that there is no one familiar to someone at mylot nearby. But I cannot help thinking that everyone is kin to someone in the world and that we are all brethren. I cannot understand why is it that there is a person checking my flip flops at the airport and people with military gear can buy rifles through the web. Something is horribly rotten in the way we, the people, are taken care of by our governments. I feel that money is not spent as it should and eyes are not where they should be either. I am in a state of shock. Your words?

This situation was inevitable here in Europe due to allowing large numbers of refugees into the area without any sensible background checks. Tens of thousands of refugees were arriving, many with no documents of a any kind. Virtually every member of the public knew that there would be many terrorists using this as a means to enter the region, yet our governments were more concerned about international opinions. Too many governments are more concerned with appearing to be charitable and politically correct than they are about protecting their own people.

@marguicha The system involves secure holding areas during the process, but they got too many complaints so skipped that altogether. Now the public are paying the price while the politicians are safely protected.

I suppose that even if you let people get in a country, they must remain isolated until they are checked.

It is a shocking news. Somehow Europe should be on guard against such attacks especially after the Paris attacks. And yet, it happened again. I guess nothing deters terrorists from sowing terror.

There must be a way! Airports make old ladies take off their flip flops (I can vouch for it) yet weapons go everywhere like candy.

@marguicha I think that's because the terrorist was not even inside the airport but was within the premises. so they should do something about that too.

I expected more attacks and logically they came immediately after that one of their chiefs was arrested in Belgium last week. I think we have to expect more.

@LadyDuck I have the feeling that western politicians kill big dictators only when it suits their own needs. We had Pinochet for over 15 years and we lived in fear while the rest of the world loved him. Only when our people fought against him in spite of fears did Europe do something.

@marguicha Unfortunately we cannot, we have been unable to control the situation in the Middle East after we have killed the big dictators in the area. Now there are no real governments and a lot of groups of fanatics who hate the westerns and are ready to give their life to see our governments destroyed. The thousands of refugees that arrive every day in Europe does not help because among them there are plenty of fake refugees that in reality are criminals.

I have to agree with you. I've been stopped for random checks at the airport, just so the airlines wouldn't be condemned for profiling. It's more than time to get our acts together. It is horrible!

It is time that the authorities learn to differentiate notmal people from terrorists. They have the means to check in a reasonable way at airports, but they don´t bother.

It seems that every bad guy has weapons. How come the people who should protect us don´t?

@marguicha I think they are doing their best, but they cannot be everywhere at once, and who knows where the next attack will be.
