How Often Should We Shower?

I shower daily because my body asks for it. I feel itchy when I don’t shower in the morning or before I go to bed. However, showering on a daily basis is actually not good to our body. The natural body oils that lubricate and protect the skin from bacteria and viruses are washed away every time we shower. If we don’t shower daily, say just once a week, our body surely stinks.
A friend told me that he and his wife shower two times a week only. On days that they don’t shower, they just wash and lather their faces and areas that need to be washed and soaped thoroughly. We all know those areas I am talking about! The reason for not showering regularly is to avoid washing away their natural body oil that protects them from bacteria and viruses; and, of course, less water bills for them to pay. My late grandmother did not shower regularly, but she lived a long life. She died at the age of 98.
So, how often do you shower? Once a day, once a week, or once in a blue moon?

@Hatley I tried to just wash my face, hands, armpits, and, of course, genitals . . but I just don't feel comfortable without taking the shower. One time our water heater shut off and we had to wait for the plumber to come the next day . . . I showered with cold water . . . I was jumping because the water was so cold . .

I shower once a day and on the weekends if i don't go anywhere i skip showers. But i always have to shower during the week as i don't want to stink at work etc and plus i can't go a day without showering.

Unless I'm out working in the yard and getting nasty @antonbunot , once a week. And you're right, too much showering, bathing etc., gets rid of the GOOD bacteria. That's another reason why people should not constantly use anti-bacterial soap in the kitchen. I can understand some folks using anti-bacterial wipes like at work or to wipe a shopping cart handle, but over-use is not good there either. Even as kids we were only bathed once a week and we were never sick.

if the temperature is cool, I would boil some water for my bath, and stay in the bathroom for 45 minutes. Showers, just 10 minutes and I am done. usually, every day or every other day, alternate shower and bath.

Indent shower daily can't ans in wouldn't either it just wast to much water. I try for every other day I'd not longer. I'm a mom of three kids so I don't get time to shower or bath when I want to . No I doesn't smell it's called deodorant you our it on and you don't get sweaty. I so don't so anything that makes me sweaty.,

@Lucky15 Yeah, I also want to live long like my late grandmother. Actually, I tried not shower on a daily basis . . . I did not only feel very itchy but also I kept farting. I just don't understand why!

Without getting too much into medicinal sides, I think we all need to shower atleast once a day.
The freshness that we get after shower cannot be compensated.
Moreover it increases blood circulation in our body , that makes us more active after shower.
During summers , I try to take shower twice a day.

It's so hot here so it's better to do it at least twice a day. One in the morning before you start with your day and the other one before going to bed.

I wish I could not shower so often as my skin is so delicate, it itches even when I put lotion on..the water strips the oils from my skin so easliy, but I have to shower daily or I go insane thinking I am dirty if not.
But I shower in very hot, and then rinse in near freezing water..it makes me feel ALIVE

I have heard about this too. I do shower everyday, but sometimes I might skip a day depending. I try not to wash my hair everyday though. It's the same concept with our hair as it is with our bodies. But I can get away with it with my hair more then I can with my body. If you know what I mean.....

I shower daily. But during summer season like this, once a day isn't enough for me. I do it twice to thrice a day.
