Dang Weather

I swear Mother Nature is out to get everybody. Blizzards, fires, storms; you name it, she's dishing it out. For 2 straight days down here in Texas, we've had strong enough winds to send me to Kansas like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. For those same 2 days, I've been trying to get the weed-wacking done and it's a little difficult when the sustained winds are 25 mph and gusting to 40. I had grass on me in places it shouldn't be. Last night however was a really scary one. The storm hit at 2 am with winds at 60 mph and a thunder strike literally made me leap out of bed because it sounded like a nuclear bomb had exploded. It was so loud that it actually made my left ear hurt and the house vibrated. Pictures on the kitchen wall fell off and hit the floor. None of the cats were visible as they were under the bed, chairs and couch. The new baby kittens were meowing like crazy and the momma (Princess); her blue eyes were as large as saucers. Since I'm in a mobile home, I felt like joining the cats under the bed but there was no room left for me. I went out this morning to assess any possible damage and thankfully everything held together; this time. I think Mother Nature is ticked off at mankind.

I do too Nanette. Now that is something my friend the pictures flying off the wall!!! I had never heard of it. Yes we also were clobbered with the blizzard. Do you have a tin roof? Just curious, if so I would be terrified even more so. Poor kitties.

The vibration from the thunder was enough to do it. I've never heard anything like that before. I hate blizzards, that's why I left Nebraska. It is a metal roof and it sounded like it was going to come off. I think a lot of the screws that hold it down have been loosened.

@TiarasOceanView I have a grounding pole by the cement slab, so it should avoid any lightning strikes.

Me too @marlina . I've got a lot of huge trees that surround my house and all it would take is a large branch to hit the roof of the house.

I'm glad that Princess and her babies were here with me and not alone where they were before @LadyDuck . Absolute sunshine and blue skies; although the wind is now out of the NNW at 18 mph.

@nanette64 When there is that kind of weather I never can sleep thinking to all the animals that have not a house, this breaks my heart.

@LadyDuck I agree, there are too many animals alone, abandoned and scared; especially with bad weather.

so glad that'cha were safe, hon. kinda jealous that'cher winds'f been that calm. been blowin' here like the dickens since last friday, today bein' the first calm day. those fronts keep missin' us to the north 'n we get the winds off 'em. perhaps we ought to see if'n the folks'n cali can redirect that rain? i've been'n some'f those kinda thunderboomers 'n they truly aint pleasant'n a mobile home. poor kitties, no doubt they were most frightened. 'round here, mankind's been the one startin' the fires (idiots...), but yer correct, mother nature's doin' her best to right it all 'n unfortunately's been makin' expensive outcomes fer the humans.

@nanette64 oh i'd be most grateful if'n ya could send me some clouds that're cooperative, ms. nanette! i fear 'ccordin' to those weather folks, we're jest 'pposed to get more high winds. heck, i believe purty much our entire state'f been under a fire watch/wind advisory nearly the entire month thus far. the winds're already crankin' here 'n i hear tell gonna be 'round 40mph by this afternoon.

It's suppose to be calm here for the next 2 days but starting Sunday through at least next Wednesday, it's suppose to rain more. I'll send ya some @crazyhorseladycx without the winds of course.

@crazyhorseladycx The fire danger is extremely scary especially when you have outside critters; it's not like you can pack 'em all up and make a run for it. 40 mph is not a good thing.

That's what I was thinking @TheHorse . I looked out the window to make sure my neighbors house hadn't blown up. He was fine. Then I thought about the forest around me catching fire. Geez, your mind races when stuff like that happens.

Yes I heard about these storms that Texas and Florida is having with crazy winds and tornadoes. Stay safe and glad no damage done. We've just had 50 degree weather here with some rain but nothing major like your getting.

I think mother nature has been on the warpath since 2011, high winds, brush fires, floods and the list goes on hitting areas that didn't used to get such.
