I woke up with the tunes of the city marching band today!
It is a national holiday in my country and there are mini parades of school students and marching bands all over the city.
One of them passed in front of my apartment this morning, I have the day off work so I had the chance to enjoy the parade from my balcony! I noticed that some people were following the band with their children, the children seemed to enjoy it very much.
Do you like watching parades and marching bands? Have you ever participated in one?

I've watched them on t.v. but have not been in one or seen one live. I think it would be a wonderful experience though.

Local parades remind me of small concerts, there is a happy vibe in the atmosphere and the event is enjoyable to watch!
TV parades are much fancier and huge, I would also love to watch one of them live as well! The local street parades are very fun as well! People are happy and they are free to participate and follow the parade, this is also a great way to meet others and have a nice morning walk!

@besweet I think street parades are more cultural as tv parades are more commercial

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yes, that's true. When they become commercial everything is more planned and structured so the spontaneity of the event is gone.

I do. I used to leave where a local Christmas parade would go down our street. I miss sitting on the porch sitting it go by. I was also in that local Christmas parade and a city parade when I was in high school.

I love parades and marching bands. Specially when the costumes are colourful and vibrant. It's just so happy and this happiness is contagious. What national holiday are you celebrating in Greece today?

Hello Anna! I was away because my laptop was damaged since Christmas! I just got a new one and I'm back!
Today it's national holiday, we celebrate the Greek revolution of 1821. Easter is next month for us.
I remember I had followed all the Catholic events for Easter in our local church when I was a student in UK. It was a great experience! Happy Easter!
