We dodged another bullet

For two days the weathermen hinted that a front coming through would bring strong winds, heavy rain and the potential for a few tornadoes. That put me into 'tornado mode' worrying and wondering what, if anything, would happen.
The rains came much earlier than they predicted but the winds were far stronger than they said. It sounded like an airplane taking off right outside our windows. However, by 4 pm the word came out that the risk of severe weather was over and we lucked out again.
Why do I worry so much? You see Tennessee is part of what they call "The Southern Tornado Alley"....and in March of 2011 we had more than our share of deadly tornadoes. Nine were killed and hundreds of homes were destroyed just in our county (our former county!) There were 5 tornadoes that one day and one was just a few miles from us.
March and April are the months when the weather people worry the most about possible tornadoes, while they can happen at any time. But during these two months in particular we hear the word tornado more often than not.
So when they say the potential is there I worry, its how I deal with it and until the all clear is given I am in tornado mode.
Today the sun will come out and all is well.

I never worried or thought about one until we moved south.

The weather today is fine - windy but no rain, should be 75 tomorrow and sunny.

@AbbyGreenhill I am glad the good weather is back, it's cloudy right now, I feel the rain in the air.

Grab my husband and the dog and head to the basement - praying as we go.

That year, 2011, one went directly above our house - went about 50 miles before it touched down. We felt the whole house shake.

I always say, Dodge a tornado, but Ford a stream. And don't make every molehill into a Plymouth rock.

That is interesting. I didn't know Tennessee was actually a part of the Southern Tornado Ally. It does seem like I hear about lots of Tornadoes happening in Tennessee.

We never had tornado worries until recently. Now we get tornado watches and warnings here in Pa (which I thought was tornado free). I don't blame you for worrying as the possibility of a tornado scares the heck out of me
