Too much of it just got to me

Hello There, I made a post about a recent veggie soup I've made three weeks ago, told you how tired I was eating veggie salad. But a friend of mine @SIMPLYD warned me about adding a knorr cubes on it since the commercial already sachet of preservatives. Well, here I am acting like an idiot and kept doing it over and over. Until yesterday evening, I had like three bowls of this thing. My knee started hurting again which was unlikely. Though I don't eat soup everyday, maybe I need to rethink what kind of veggie meal I should have.

hope you find something, and adding more of the "seasonings" on sachet is not really okay

yes, I read somewhere that these kinds of cubes are a-plenty of preservatives and not good for health. Make your veggie soup organic na lang, hijo. that is better

@Letranknight2015 when I wash the rice ready for cooking, the rice water can be used to make broth just like when I cooked salmon with vermicelli (sotanghon). The rice water is the broth or soup in that dish. How about using the rice water for your vegetable soup too? No MSG, but some sugar will do.

i honestly find that weird. a vegetable salad with pineapple chunks in it?
• Philippines
26 Mar 16
After all it was just an expensive "experiment" @MGjhaud maybe I should go back to salad. you know I saw one of my friend who's an inactive mylotter made this salad and added pineapple chunks on it. but that alone is more expensive, so i made another meal

Why did your knee hurt because of the soup friend? Are you sure the soup is the culprit?

@Letranknight2015 if there's a culprit, it would probably be something high in uric acid but yes it's better to avoid those artificial flavorings

@louievill I think eating three bowls already give me the signal that the soup w/ those seasonings was a bad idea

It's probably the knorr cubes, and other seasonings I just added @louievill

a few nights a week we make a big pot of soup for dinner and put a lot of veggies in it. if you still feel hungry after one bowl of soup, try pairing it with slices of wheat bread (can be toasted if preferred) to help you feel fuller.

@Letranknight2015 by the way, what kind of noodles do you use, instant noodles?
• Philippines
26 Mar 16
I didn't do that last night but I ate some wheat bread along with this meal @hereandthere but I have added cabbage for my dinner, same thing but no bread

That's a lot of preservatives in a sachet of seasoning. We used to have a lot of stock in the house before but since we learned about the harm it can do tou our health, we immediately stopped. We don't even use MSG in cooking.

well, I think now it's a bad idea making that soup again, unless I don't add seasoning, like salt @lady1993

I am not sure if you are having arthritic condition. If you do, refrain from eating lentils. It adds to uric acid effect.

that's what the doctor first told me @Shavkat but maybe eating that nacho was a bad idea either

I know, it's the knorr seasoning you put into your veggie soup was the cause of your hurting knee. next time if you eat veggie soup, don't add any seasoning and compare it, if still hurts.

I like sautéed moringa or potato vine in olive oil with lots of garlic and onions and a bitLanders of salt. No budget for other seasonings. LOL

Be careful of preservatives and msg... They're addictive. Back in our house we have a small bottle of msg or a small sachet of it. It adds a throat-itching taste that salt alone can't achieve. Now that I live away from home, I still miss that 'umami' taste but it takes a skill to cook without that. Organic is a lot healthier...

That's what I'm trying to do, but not full organic, other rare vegetables are just too expensive for me yeah I'll just avoid the knorr cubes for now @Dextoi

Do you have high uric acid? If that's the case, I think you have to avoid cabbage. And do not overcook those veggies. For a simple healthy soup, you can try: chinese cabbage (wombok), celery, egg, salt, pepper, garlic and onion.
