Back To School Today

Boy I didn't want to get up this morning. I got used to sleeping in the last two weeks. But, up I got.
The kids being kids were really wound up today. I can understand it. They were off for 10 days and got used to doing what they wanted to do. Plus, all that Easter candy sent them on gigantic candy rushes.
They were all but bouncing off the wall. I would have loved to take them outside and let them all run around the track but I fear that the powers that be would disapprove.
They want us to have them seated at a desk quiet and eager to learn. We try but alas today it was only a dream.
Tomorrow is another day. I told them to come in ready to learn cause we have a ton of work to accomplish. If they can't get it done during class I guess they will have to do it for homework.
That just might calm them down.

I was surprised that my son came off of spring break as easily as he did. He was ready to go back to school. I was happy it went easier than I thought it would. He also doesn't go until 12:30 PM so he gets to sleep in in the morning. I imagine next year when he has all day kindergarten will be a different story lol. My son isn't a morning person.

@HazySue He likes it most days, but his teachers are pretty understanding that he's active, and they let him kind of stand or walk around. My son has so much energy and it's especially difficult for him to sit. Even at home he has to stand and watch TV. He isn't ADHD as he can focus, but he does have a lot of energy. Right now he's in preschool so he plays most of the time, so he loves it, but I'm not sure how it will be as he gets older. He loves the social aspect of school I think. He is a talkative little guy, so he loves talking to people on his terms, he used to be really shy, school has done him a lot of good.

@sissy15 believe it or not most of the kids we have are overactive. I think it is so important that the teacher takes time to understand how each child works and reacts. I have several that need a break after 20 minutes so as a class we all stand up and stretch.

My kids where all really easy to get up this morning and get dress. I had to walk four kids down to the bus stop so that my 5 year old could go to preschool. She gets picked up by the bus. By the afternoon time they where all full of it. I'm hoping tomorrow with them down some candy they will be less crazy.

@ShyBear88 we all hope that the candy high goes away quickly. My girls all went through the same behavior when they were little.

@ShyBear88 some kids don't. They seem to pick up on the mood of the bouncy ones.

It sounds like the powers that be don't know children very well.
I was totally surprised this morning. My grandson got up and got out to catch the bus this morning. It was great.

@celticeagle I think sometimes the powers that be forget what it is like being cooped up in a small room with a group of bouncing kids.

I hope that works for you tomorrow =) I know it must be hard teaching after a holiday break.

@LovingMyBabies it is always a challenge to teach the first day back from a holiday. The kids are used to doing what they want instead of what we want them to do.

The day after Easter or the day after Halloween are the days when the kids are on a sugar high. LOL. I remember working in an elementary school in the main office. We had a lot of jittery kids sent to the office because they just couldn't sit still. LOL

@ElusiveButterfly we had a time keeping kids min their seats and their lips zipped. You are so right, the sugar high is working big time on them.
