How I made $2.9974 in ONE DAY on myLot

Yes, this is a serious post.
I did indeed make that in one day here. (Well, not ME me...PhredWreck/ForeverTheLamb did)
And I didn't post 20 discussions to do it...I believe I posted 3 that day.
I just happened to post a couple of good discussions about the site, that contained a bit of information that people didn't really know a lot about.
And people responded to them.
And I commented back.
And they commented back.
And it was an ongoing discussion, not just a post I made.
For some reason, I keep finding myself needing to stress this point:
myLot does not pay you to make posts; myLot pays you to receive interaction in various forms from other users
If I hadn't captured...and kept...the interests of other users that day, those same three discussions could have earned me absolutely nothing.
And even then, it wasn't only those three discussions...it was interaction I was receiving from everything I had ever posted here that was getting looked at/liked/responded to/commented on by people that day.
The main point being...I was not paid for what I wrote.
None of us are.
I'm seeing an influx of newer users again that seem to think their posts are what earns for them.
If these people would look at the FAQ page a bit closer, they'd see that without interaction to their posts from members of the myLot community, they likely won't earn anything for those posts.
So actually, I didn't make $2.9974 in one day...the community made it for me.
And for that, I thank each of you.
Okay...I think I am done venting...for now...
*goes off to interact*
(UPDATE - Three days later, I managed to hit $3.2792 - thanks guys )

I appreciate your sincerity
but sadly those who should really be reading this are nowhere. Those who already know the rule are commenting here

@JolietJake Those who post many discussions and not come back are not many and they are not here. You can send them messages.

@JolietJake I think it was the same month I made the 2.15, because you mentioned it in a comment.

I never really 'expect' them, but when I post something and it sits there for an hour with no response, I start getting a bit antsy...

@JolietJake I've said it before and I'll say it again.. They should "Sticky" a post that answers their questions, it's obvious they don't know where to / care to read the faq's otherwise.

@ScribbledAdNauseum We're also getting older users back that left in 2013 because they heard it was paying again, and a lot of them think it is the same algorithm it used to be

That is what I do, except I post maybe once a week, but other times I am interacting. This post needs to be suggested for many people who don't understand. (Of course I don't think I ever made $2.9974 before, I tihnk the highest I made was $1.00 and that was on the old MyLot)

I find earning here easier than the old version, but I could be active more, I'm not sure.

Yesterday, I told the same thing to someone who was complaining about slow earnings despite spending the day here. Point to be noted he had posted discussions and left it that.
I had to point out that they weren't earning for posting. They are earning from interaction they "receive".

Time and time again you, I, and other members keep trying to tell people that...sometimes they listen, sometimes I don't even think they read the responses they get.

Interaction is where many new members fall down because I have known people to submit many discussions then never reply to the comments they receive. Obviously if they fail to reply then they will not end up with an active discussion, then they wonder why they are not earning very well.

@JolietJake It always seems so pointless to me when someone receives a decent number of responses and does not bother to reply.

So, you are saying you can't post 100 discussions and earn tons of money for doing so? LOL.
I usually post about things that are bothering me, when things are going well, interesting things (if I can find any to actually talk about), life in general. Some get quite a few people talking about the post, some get few.
I always try to find your posts JJ as they are interesting, sometimes very amusing too.

@JolietJake just the chance we have to take. I have yet to post a discussion that receives no comments at all, so I guess I am not doing too badly.

We don't receive a static 'x' amount per activity/interaction received. It is a variable amount.

I argued with some user for half the day here a month ago, they'd joined from a blog written in 2011 and they kept telling me I didn't know what I was talking about because they saw it written 'blah blah blah'

A lot of people come here from other sites such as Bubblews or Persona Paper where you are paid for starting discussions and assume here is the same. It's only when they ask the questions that they realise that things are different here - or maybe some people are just quite lazy and assume the money will roll in without much effort.

It actually isn't what we make, it is what we receive from other users, though it can be argued that unless we act, they can't interact

I do think the title and content of a post does have a little to do with it @JolietJake but you are completely right, without the interaction of others to the post, it doesn't mean diddly.

@nanette64 I don't really do 'followers', I follow Alex (GoAskAlice) and Bugsy (myLotBugs) and that's it. Then I just constantly scan the 'Most Recent Discussions' and response on what grabs my attention instead of going through a list of only certain people and feeling like I should respond to them before anyone else.

You do indeed have to give the person a reason to want to respond, yes. But then, you have to make them want to keep responding to other posts you make, and if you start ignoring the people, sooner or later they will start ignoring you, as well.

Unfortunately, 95% of them won't look, or they'll just ignore it. I do get some that do finally look, and pay attention, and finally 'get it', so it isn't a lost cause, though some days it sure feels like it.
