For a Bird he sure was a Ham

While Z and I were fishing Saturday afternoon I spied this cormorant on one of the cypress knees near the Ghost Trees. Fortunately I had my camera with me and was able to get several shots of the bird both on the water and back on the knee.
I used MS Paint to collect four of the photos into one so I could display them here.
While we were there, we saw several other types of waterfowl including at least two breeds of duck and a few geese, along with the seagulls who are always about.
The cormorant did catch a pipefish while we were observing him but I wasn't able to get any good pictures of him doing so as he was just a bit too far away and the lens I have wouldn't bring him in close enough.
I'm hoping with more practice to improve the quality of my photos. I hope you enjoy this small montage of the bird who had a bit of ham in him.

You have much more wildlife than we do here on the west coast.

@JohnRoberts Taking into account the terrain and climate it does make sense. Also, we are along the flyway for ducks and geese in their annual migration.

@DWDavis I just think wildlife is more diverse in the east due to climate and marshier environment. Our coastline is quite different. Sea gulls rules the roost and that's the only bird you see. We do have have whales, sharks and sea lions out there but you rarely see them. It's not development as much of the coast from Baja to Canada is state park or wild and rocky.

I love the photos! I didn't know you could make a collage in paint.

I did it by resizing the first photo and then expanding the boundaries to show a lot of white space. Then I opened each of the other photos in a separate window and cut the portion I wanted to add to the collage before going back to the first window and pasting it over the first image. I then dragged the new image into the white space and repeated the process with the 3rd and 4th images. Once done, I saved it as a new file. It is time consuming and I'm sure there is probably an easier way but it works for me.

@jillybean1222 I don't make collages often so Paint is all I really need and easy for me to use.

@DWDavis there are several apps/websites that have a collage option. I haven't messed with them too much, but I always see the nice collages that people share & mean to do it. I think i've done it twice. :-)

I don't know how it came to be, but once -- ONCE -- I saw a cormorant here in Nelson County. It was a cool thing to see. Now if only I could spot one of our 2 varieties of eagle in the county!

@KuznVinny That would be a sight to see. I imagine they were in awe when they realized what it was.

Unless you have a good zoom feature in your camera getting pictures of birds in motion is a tough job. I use paint too to create collages as we cannot post more than one picture in our posts.

Those turned out well. Isn't it cool when wildlife putting on a show? I used to live close to an otter, he would do so if he saw you watching.
