Since most of us who are involved with the community garden are women, our fearless leader and motivator has taken to calling us "The Dirty Ladies". However, on second thought one of our more spiritual/ethereal members has decided we should be Sisters of the Soil . So, on Facebook we will not be tagged as Dirty Ladies in the photos. We are Sisters of the Soil. We do however, welcome the participation of those who are a bit more brawny.

I love the Sisters of the Soil, sounds so crunchy granola. I can't wait to get my hands dirty. Even though I wear gardening gloves, my hands still get pretty dirty.

Mine do too. And no such thing as a fancy manicure.

@GardenGerty I feel that working in soil is nature's manicure.

Although there are pictures up online of us, I did not take them and have not asked permission to share them here. There is a picture of a garden, but not mine, on my next post.

It really is a great way to learn all the "dirt" about the town. Lol. I am enjoying meeting more people in the area. And oh, it is such a good feeling to be outside and work hard.

You should call yourself Dirty Women as a play on Pretty Woman.

A lot of good friendships and hard work, and hope in the garden.

I think Sisters of the Soil will lead to a lot less speculation about just what y'all are up to out there in the garden.

The three community gardens we have in our city are mostly available to those with lower incomes that don't have enough yard to have a garden of their own. I would like to join with the gardeners that meet at the library one day, but I think most of them might have degrees in that field, and may not take to someone without that type of degree crashing their party. I don't have time for it right now anyway.

In my previous location we had "Master Gardeners" who had certified through the County Extension office. They did not have degrees, but were pretty fancy. We are more of a bunch of mature ladies who enjoy each other and the out doors.
