myLot is NOT Bubblews

I've been feeling the need to say this recently.
myLot is not like Bubblews.
myLot is not 'another' Bubblews (myLot was around long before Bubblews started).
Bubblews was a writing site designed to earn money for using it.
myLot is NOT a 'writing site' and is not an earning site, either.
myLot is a discussion forum to talk with other people about issues, not to pay you for articles.
And it is not about 'earning money' like Bubblews was. Payment here is merely an incentive to use the site; it is not a reason to use the site like Bubblews was.
If you were a writer on Bubblews for the money, you should not come here with the same expectations, because myLot is nothing like Bubblews.
And that brings me to a point about money:
Tons of discussions are showing up about money, and how much people earn (sometimes resulting in the same people posting multiple discussions each day about how much they are earning).
Please take into consideration the following point;
A month ago, there was a discussion about allowing us the option to have our earnings show as part of our profile. This was NOT something that had to be shown, it was an option to show it if we wished to let others know. An overwhelming majority of users here thought it would be a bad idea, and therefore Admin decided not to do it.
One reason in particular cited by many users was they did not want to see what everyone else was earning.
People that are posting how much they earn are throwing it directly into the faces of those that chose not to see it...and which Admin agreed with.
PLEASE....it would probably be best if you stop posting discussions dealing directly with how much you make.
The money here, while nice to receive, is NOT the reason for this site to be here.
Entirely too much emphasis is being placed on it.
I've tried to help explain to other users how they can earn more, but I am not posting every hour how much I made today.
myLot is not Bubblews...myLot is not about money.
myLot is about discussing topics with other users.
Please...let's try to get back to that.

I see an awful lot of people that have come over from Bubbles that do not like how us "original" myLotters (and some of the newer breed) interact within discussions. I can understand how a person might feel overwhelmed when a bunch of us show up in their discussion talking all over the place, but that is not at all what I am referring to here.
There have been quite a few people complaining that we are "hijacking" their discussions, because we are talking to each other rather than them (the original poster of the discussion). They deem it as being rude, but I disagree. It is a discussion site, and we are here to discuss. There is nothing saying that we have to address everything (or even anything) to the person who started the discussion.
In the "old days", we were encouraged to interact as much as possible on an existing discussion rather than start another discussion on the same topic. That does not seem to be the case now, but that does not mean we are wrong if we continue to interact in that manner.

@JolietJake Yes, I think that if myLot starts deleting the "duplicate" discussions like they used to do, then it would send a more convincing message that we are supposed to be discussing rather than posting and collecting responses.

I think John Donne's poem sums up the problem here: No man is an island...

That's the major big difference...Bubblews was never set up for discussions. Meanwhile that is all this site has ever been about...discussing.
I still think that, regardless of the topic, 50 different 'discussions' about it are ridiculous...no one is really 'discussing' there, just posting the same thing all over the place.
Ah well...

You responded to one telling others HOW to earn, not necessarily 'this is how much is in my bank'.

Also, please note; that mentions something I earned, in one day, several months ago, and had nothing to do with any current earnings amount.

@JolietJake You should not try to justify yourself : the corollary of "do as I say, not as I do" is "the chief is always right". I learned it long ago in the army

Hope this does not offend anyone. It is kind of a boring topic also. Kind of like all those rappers rapping about all this money they have that most of them do not have. I mean, I would think we all want others to do well, but there is no reason to flaunt it. Which is kind of how it comes across at times.

@vandana7 I would love to use that emoticon. I hate topics about earnings. I hope there is an emoticon saying "talk to the hand" Someone asked me in the past how much I earned. I told him I chose not to disclose and I don't monitor it. Now, I'll use the yawn emoticon next time I'm asked about earnings.

Discussions were never a part of the other site. And really, its about time that people let that old site go, this is not the place to discuss it or even to draw comparisons.
I was so happy to see the title of this discussion, I hope that it is read and understood by everyone. It will help bring everyone back on track and have intelligent discussions.
Let's see if it works now.

@MarshaMusselman From what I can remember, I was about the longest standing member when that site closed that had not been paid and was owed a sizeable redemption. I never posted about it here or there, I just packed up my stuff on the other site, deleted as much as I could, and started fresh here. I don't see the point in bringing up the negative past where I was not paid.

Although the other site didn't call it's posts discussions, I think many of us discussed the topic as much as we interact here.
I think so many weren't paid elsewhere, that they feel the need to talk about it more int he beginning of their stay here, but eventually they should see that those posts don't bring in the interaction and hopefully they'll quit.

The most likely reason for people posting about what they have earned is simply an easy way to generate a post. No matter how much it is impressed on people, money will remain the major attraction for most members.
I remember when Mylot announced the cessation of the earnings a few years ago. I intended to remain, but so many members left that I finally gave up and moved away for a while.

So I guess you are saying that MyLot is not Bubblews. I too am seeing way too many posts about how to earn more money here. Hey, I got it a long time ago that you aren't going to get rich from posting. It is all about the interactions with others.
The interactions are what I love most. I enjoy posting a discussion to talk about with other people. It is great when I get a lot of comments, but also great even when I get only a few. I also read a lot of posts. Some I will leave a comment, if it warrants leaving one. Sometimes just a like. Sometimes I don't read the discussion at all because it is a redundant post, those get boring.
The friendships I have made here are worth their weight in gold. Let us be thankful for that.

I come here because I like the people - not for the money. I stayed with Bubblews long after others left for the same reason.

My lot is very different from bubblews. It is better in a lot of ways. For one thing, the administration is a lot more involved. At least, I feel that they are, and I appreciate that. I don't care what other people earn, and it's no one's business how much I earn. I'm here for the fun of interacting with the wonderful members here.

Would you be able to report and remove those posts if you became a moderator?
I for one think money related posts would come even if the earnings were shown on profile page. People need a topic to discuss, and that becomes a good topic unless guidelines say no.

Oh yah, myLot is definitely not Bubblews.
Besides all that stuff you mentioned, I must say I have complete trust in this site. Here, "they" take into account what we say and don't give us the run around. I appreciate "they" keep us mostly informed about what's going on and I don't have to bite my nails "wondering" if it's worth my time to be here. We have built up a mutual trust system here - and that's where that B place failed.

@vandana7 Ah, Roger, the 18th letter of the alphabet in the older-style of phonetic communication common in the British forces. These days, since about 1956, the NATO phonetic alphabet is used, where "R" is represented by Romeo.
He got 3 months community service for impertinence ;)

MyLot is about relationships, whether good or bad. There have been some mis steps along the way but over all it is successful, and it is FUN if you let it be. Think of myLot as a hobby not a job.

That's why I'm missing the old mylot. I can see that most of the active users here now are from bubblews and they're posting exactly how they do on bubblews and I'm honestly a bit disappointed about that. I am missing the old members of mylot and how we used to really discuss so many fun things and read all the comments in one discussion and everybody interacts. We cared less of how much we earned, we were just enjoying talking to each other.
Thanks for posting this.

Maybe they can't move on because they didn't think of having an investment that is work remembering to. I made peace with that site long time ago because of the new laptop I bought last 2014 because of saved bubblews earnings. people should save and invest something at least within the year.
If I were to buy another gadget coming from mylot savings, which will be useful for so many years. I will have peace with mylot and won't talk it if they stop paying again.
