An Adventure for a Bargain

It has been a long day. I went in to town with hubby when he went to work. This was my sister's day to get her Social Security and Food Stamps, so I took her shopping and to go get her money order for rent.
There was an interesting sale going on another thirty miles west of that town, and I had said I wanted to buy a cupboard. Hoping to add more storage to my kitchen and pantry area.
The cupboard only has one shelf right now in top and peg board all the way down. It is seven feet tall, 2 feet deep and 4 ft wide. I paid ten dollars for it.
The neatest thing is I think this had been in an art room. The two doors together are a hand painted still life. This is the picture from the sale list, and it only shows one door.
I will keep you posted on this as we move it in.

When I get it into a better position I will get a picture of both of the doors.

@Hate2Iron Me too. Life has interrupted us and I have to have hubby to help me bring it in, it is very heavy and solid..

@Hatley this is just the kind of thing that makes me smile. We will easily add more shelves and possibly some peg hooks as it is peg board inside the cupboard.

The entire front is a painting of fruit and foods, it will show better when I put up another picture. We will put customized dividers inside of it and it will hold many kitchen things.

Would they claw it? Mine will scratch the door to go out, but I am pretty sure she would have no reason to attempt to get into it.

@ElicBxn Marking territory. I am fortunate to not have that issue any more. Princess does not have that habit.

That would make a great pantry... the size is very generous and the art work is an added bonus!!

It will go so well in the kitchen area. I had hoped it would fit in the space I am labeling as my pantry. We bought a duplex last year and are in the process of connecting the sides. I have two rooms that were "laundry" but one of those two rooms has become a store room/pantry. I am loving the artwork, but we have some protruding screws on the outside we must cut out so it does not tear the carpet or injure us when we bring it in.

@Hate2Iron I am in an ongoing unpacking situation. This will give me a space for some of the larger pieces. I am also going to remove or reconfigure some of the existing cupboards.

@GardenGerty Definitely hope that you can find a way to use it. We rented a duplex this year and the kitchen was so tiny, and storage so non existent that I had to pack up two book shelves full of books and use them to store food. I knew that the bookshelves would come in handy for something lol! When I unpack my books, I'm going to be so surprised to see what I have!!

I think I would repaint it, but still, that is an amazing deal for something that big!!!

I think the painting on it is perfect for a kitchen or pantry as it is food based. if I ever change my mind I will repaint it, but this is really well done, like maybe the art teacher did it.

@GardenGerty once you add some more shelves in in, great storage! I have a spot that needs something like that, right now a big bookshelf is there.

@GardenGerty Yes I do. My daughter painted them when she was in high school so looking at them brings me back to that time and place.

It has some screws protruding from where it was built in. Hubby is cutting them off and then we shall bring it in. I really look forward to the extra space.
