Free bagel everyday in April at Panera!

United States

On April Fool's Day - I received an email from Panera titled: Michelle, no fooling – a free reward every day in April. The reward is for a free bagel everyday for the month of April - no purchase necessary! Since the email was sent on April Fool's - I really thought they were playing a joke but it's legitimate! I have redeemed this reward twice on April 1st & today, April 5th. April 1st - I got an Everything Bagel & cream cheese. I was disappointed with the cream cheese as it was frozen with ice bits & I paid almost $2 (spread costs more than the bagel itself). If I had known it'd cost that much for cream cheese I would have bought it at Whole Foods/Trader Joes. April 5th - (Today) My boyfriend & I grabbed lunch here and bought the Steak & White Cheddar Panini & a Salad so we got a Sesame Bagel to share as an appetizer with complimentary butter to wait for our food. This is a strategy technique for Panera to have people come, get their bagel & also buy something else too! Unless someone happens to work right beside Panera & it'd be convenient for them to get a bagel on the way to work for breakfast/lunch or something. Panera has some on going deals - I have heard some even got coffee free for a whole month but I don't drink coffee so I skipped that deal when I had that promotion. Does any stores around you have cool rewards like this?

That is really cool. I'd be upset about the cream cheese and ask for my money back on that. I think Krispy Kreme had some sort of promotion when they opened up their newest location here. I like free food deals. Ooh Sheetz! You can get like every tenth coffee free!

Unfortunately I would have asked for a different cream cheese or my money back but I ordered the bagel for to go and didn't notice until I got home. And I was not going to drive back Krispy Kreme has an upcoming deal buy 1 box get 1 free like April 28 or 29th? I don't remember but I haven't had a Krispy Kreme donut in soOooo long but I am craving it.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Oh no I didn't want to call though I was super disappointed as I was craving for a tasty bagel with cream cheese (haven't had one in a while). I frequently go to that Panera. I totally feel awkward but it was quite a waste of $1.80 or something for a one-use spread where I could have bought the entire stick for less than that.

@infatuatedbby We used to have to drive about 20 minutes to get a donut... now we can get there in 15! hahaha Have you ever called a place back up and complained? Some places have lists they keep and you come in, give your name, and they give you the coupon / your money back etc.

I love getting rewards. That is why I often get reward cards from different establishments.

@infatuatedbby Oh yes, I have a lot of treats on my birthdays such as a slice of cake from Starbucks, free points from a Gasoline station, a box of Large Pepperoni pizza from Shakey's, and a lot more from different establishments.

@LdeL0318 Wow a large pepperoni pizza - that's very generous! This month is my boyfriend's birthday so we're making rounds to a bunch of places/restaurants.

cool, bagels are one of my favorites. we do have a donut store here that cuts the price in half every now and then. their donuts are expensive but yummy in fairness. the only way to know is when we see the light of the stores logo blinking.

That's really good! Good marketing strategy as well. I might not believe this if the email is sent out on April Fools' Day as well. I don't know if we have such cool rewards here, as I rarely go out shopping or anywhere nowadays, except to the park.

@infatuatedbby Yes, I think all these are good marketing strategy. Moreover, I think they won't make any losses even though they give away something free, they will have better reputation as well.

Hehe. Understanding since you have little ones. I'm curious who will think the rewards is true or not lol. And I think it's a great way of marketing because if someone travels all the way to be store one is going to probably buy spread tea or coffee to go with their bagel! Plus the store is known for breads so they can just make extra this month only

@kaka135 I haven't been taking advantage of the free bagels since - but I hope others are. It does make their brand show very much!

Some do now and again like Dunkin Donuts and so on. I used to go to Paneras when I was working nearby and really liked them. Sonic does a lot of free items around here in these parts. Enjoy!

I go there a few times I like the sandwiches only but now they no longer make the Asiago bread that I like so I don't frequently go.

Hmm I did not get this deal. I bet when I signed up it was with my old email. I will have to look into that. What I would do is go get the free bagel when I am near there and then take it home with me and toast it later and use my own 8oz. cream cheese block that I buy on sale for $1. That is how I would get this item for free rather then buy their $2 half frozen cream cheese lol

Gee, if our Panera is doing that, I need to get over there for lunch! I love their food so much. I don't hera too much about rewards around here. I need to start being more aware. :)
