What two things would you like to change this month?

Meditate

I read the discussion from @toniganzon about two things she can change this month. I was thinking of what two things I'd like to change as well. These are the two things I'd really want to change, though I have been working on these for quite some time, I haven't make them a habit yet: 1) Meditate daily 2) Stay focus or be mindful I meditate more frequently than before, almost everyday now, but I'd like to make it a habit to meditate at least once in the morning after I woke up. Staying focus or being mindful of what I am currently doing is also something I am practicing now. I have always read that, "eat while you are eating, sleep while you are sleeping" is the basic concept of practicing Buddhist Zen/Chan. Just focus or concentrate on what we are doing right now will help us to be more mindful. Is there anything you'd like to change? picture was downloaded from pixabay

There are 2 things I'd like to change, first is to change our weather, my place are really having a hard time with the season, we are now experience water shortage and drought because of the hot weather. Second is I want to be a little more health conscious. I want to have healthy habits. :)

Hope the weather over there will get better and the water supply will be normal soon. It's really quite difficult to have hot weather and water shortage at the same time. It's very hot here as well, so I have to take shower every now and then throughout the whole day. Hope you'll be healthy always too!

@kaka135 thank you. :) It is really a struggle but we can't do anything but hope for the weather to improve. :)

As I have also mentioned in her post, it's the way I spend, and the way I care for my health.

I think meditate every day is an impossible goal. You mind will start to think about things you have yet to do or you have totally forgotten until now. It is extremely hard to push all these thoughts aside when you have things undone.

@scheng1 The course I went to taught us walking meditation as well. I think it's different from what you mentioned. There are really many different types of meditation and learning, I guess it's good if we can find the ones that suit us. We can go in the forest or secluded place to meditate, and we can also just stay at home, be where we are and meditate. It all depends on our heart/mind.

I used to think it's hard, but now I think it's possible to do so. Now I can actually do that when I sit down and meditate. I can also walk or do things without thinking about others, but I still need to remind myself. I have asked the masters, they said it's very common for human beings to have thoughts in our mind, but we can try to avoid them when we meditate. Also, I think not to try to push out the thoughts hard, but first to calm down ourselves, then be relaxed, clear our mind, then it'll be easier. One method I learned was to count our breath - we count when we breathe out, and when we reach 10, we re-count from 1. Sometimes, our mind still wander around, then we try to pull back our mind and focus on our breathing. Slowly, we may not even need to count to help us to stay focus. Sometimes I don't count too. But I don't meditate for long yet, I only meditate for 5-10 minutes now. If possible, it'd be good to meditate for at least 30 minutes.

@kaka135 Have you heard of walking meditation method? The forest monks in Thailand are very good at this. They often walk long distance in the forest and find a secluded place to meditate.

Same here. I'd like to be more organized and manage my time better as well. But now, I'd like to focus on the two things I mentioned, and slowly I believe the rest will fall into places.

I need to meditate on that our loving Creator will take care of everything and I don't need to worry about things I can't change. There are many examples in the Bible how God helped those who trusted him and he is so much wiser than we are and can solve any problem.

I think if I could change two things it would have to be I want my children to get along better and be happy and for things to just be good with my man and I. Right now I am just a mess its all I can think about. I just want it to be all over and things to be calm and not so stressful anymore.

Yes, I guess that makes life more meaningful and wonderful - keep on learning and improving. Hope you'll get to spread your love around and the love will also be spread even wider from others too!
