Controlling Communication Jitters

Perhaps almost everyone experiences anxiety when instructed to speak in public, in a meeting, in small or large gatherings.
It is an advantage for me if I was given instructions in advance because I can prepare for the speech. However, when it is an impromptu, I find it a very unpleasant experience. It causes my heart to race and leaving me short out of breath.
Did you encounter a similar situation in which you feel you are going to fail because you are not trained on such?

It is true but the problem lies to what if you are called to speak on the spot in front. It is not easy for a person like me because I am not used to it.

@LdeL0318 Yes, it is true. I am still learning to do that even though the knowledge that all are waiting for me to speak up makes me tense and I do not know how to really calm myself..

I used to be afraid to do some impromptu presentations. But nowadays, I feel confident with impromptu speeches or presentations, as long as I don't have to argue with anybody.

Maybe it was because you have been doing it most of the times that is why you are already used to it?

@annierose It's because I remind myself that I have nothing to be nervous of as I have the knowledge to do it.

@MGjhaud No, No No Joy
I hope not. I am a woman with limited words when it comes to speaking in front. I do not know what to say and I stutter most of the times.

Same with me. I am more of an introvert person and speaking in front on the spot gives me goosebumps.

I don't have much experience to speak in public, so I think I will get nervous. But I believe when we have more practice and well prepared, then we won't be that nervous. But, if it's an impromptu, I might still be nervous, unless I am familiar with what I am going to talk about.

I think even I am familiar with the topic, I still cannot express my ideas clearly. I am having difficulty arranging ideas on my mind. It is really much better to write it all first in writing.
