Well, I'm not!
Been on mylot for 6 years now and counting...
Who explores that "new user discussions" tab? I do!
I was once a new user myself and I didn't know much about starting a discussion. I didn't know what to talk about but, mind you, I read the rules before starting anything. I was a boring user back then (hope i'm not anymore).
Going over the new user discussions, I could see myself in some of them. And I try my best to help them in their struggle of being a new user, by making kind comments. Yes, I could be kind (sometimes!
).
Let's give these new users a chance to be a party of the mylot family. Let's show them that being a member of mylot is worth their time and effort in starting a discussion and interacting. Let's be kind and gentle to them.

I very rarely go there.
Generally I stick to most recent discussions (although I do scroll waaaaay back if I've not been on for a bit of time) and the discussions of those that I follow.
Scrolling back through the most recent discussions means I'd come across new user posts anyway.

That's true. IN my case, I just want to see what the new users are up to. There must be a reason why the tab is there anyway.

@toniganzon I do try to help anyone that asks for it but, to be honest, some people are very lazy.
When I sign up to a new site I read all the rules and look around for some time before posting anything.
Too many new users get here and look at nothing and expect to earn lots of money without even putting in any effort to learn the site...then when you try to help they just ignore you

@Mike197602 right, that's why i skip their discussions. I can tell when one has made an effort to at least read the rules and not to take advantage of the site. I've seen a lot of that over bubblews. I'm glad i was a mylotter before i became a bubblews member.

Most of the discussions out there were spammy when I looked at those some months ago. Then somethings started changing and the discussions in those areas are quite okay now. But the problem with me is that I have very limited time here at MyLot and much of it goes into being on the discussions from friends. But still I keep peeping in and occasionally I do find something interesting to reply under that section.

Hi sid, nowadays my friends don't post much on the time that' i'm online when i check the 'their discussion' tab. So i check all the discussions posted as well as those that are posted by the new users.

@toniganzon If I remember right, the Admins had also mentioned on one of their discussions that the discussions from newbies can get us paid better - they (admin) too want peace, harmony and interactions of older MyLotters with the newbies... And I did see that this was a healthy move.
Yes, most of the friends we made back then have either been missing or even non-regular here. And add to it the timings of their posting and being online. Definitely a time when one should also look out for new friends and relationships to begin

Well, I am officially back to myLot for a grand total of... less than a day now. 
So I haven't come up with a 'daily myLot routine' yet. So far, I have only been looking for people to follow, and looking into the stuff under the "Follows" tab. But I think I'll eventually get to the point where I will look into the "New User" and "Discussions w/ No Response" lists. Who knows, we might find gems of discussions there, too.

Right. These days i don't have a mylot routine either. I had a mylot routine 6 years ago that lasted for two or three years, then it was gone since i went to another country and had a very hectic schedule.

I check the new user discussions daily and answer some discussions there. I will keep doing. New user may add interactivity to the site!

That's wonderful. It's just sad some times when I see too many discussions started by a new user but none makes sense.

I'm a new user and I do visit the new users discussions. They could be sharing topics that might catch my attention and it usually happens. Actually, I explore everything here whenever time allows.

YOu're doing a great job Teri and welcome to mylot. Mylot is a totally different site than bubblews and let's not forget that here in mylot we should converse and not just start a discussion or make one comment and go.

@toniganzon Thank you. I used to be a member of bubblews too but I find it hard to be comfortable with the site. I dont know if its just me or its the site's atmosphere that's not very welcoming.

Yeah i understand. It doesn't matter to me whether there are a lot of online people when i'm online because I don't usually start a discussion. I prefer responding than starting a discussion.
