I Hate Being Sick

Let me start with an appropriate line from the Yaz song "Don't Go:" "Hey, go get a doctor! Doctor came too late" My sleep last night amounted to about 35 minutes. The rest of the night I was up, hunched over a garbage can. You can use your imagination to decipher why. I hate being sick. That's a silly thing to say, isn't it? Except for people with psychological disorders such as hypochondria nobody likes to be sick. I'm not talking about the little accepted things in life like colds, though. No, this was a stomach bug. I have irritable bowel syndrome, which makes stomach bugs worse.. Much, much worse. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Thankfully, I've rested up today, recovering some of that lost sleep. I'm not planning on going to work tomorrow, allowing myself a day to recover (not to mention the medication I take for IBS has a tendency to knock me out the first couple of pills I take). I'm not staying home, though (which probably explains why it usually takes me so long to get well: I refuse to lie in bed and "be sick," which is truthfully the best thing you can do for yourself when you are sick). I'm planning on playing my regular Wednesday night golf tournament. The concert for tomorrow is still on at this time. We'll see how my bland food (yuck -- plain baked potatoes are as exciting as eating cardboard) stays on my stomach (so far, so good!). I hope to be back to normal by Friday, just in time for the weekend and the much-improved weather. Here's that great Yaz song I quoted in the beginning:
