Likes for Likes, anyone?

Was it yesterday or a couple of days ago when my notification was filled with likes of my recent discussions, comments and responses by one user? I'm not saying I didn't appreciate it, but it reminded me of bubblews where likes were paid too. Has the rules on mylot changed that I wasn't aware of? Are the likes paid as well? I hope not! As far as I can remember likes aren't paid here or have i been wrong all along? I'm the kind of mylot user that appreciates responses and comments than likes. I am grateful for the likes as well, but I enjoy more when people respond to my discussions or make comments on my responses. I prefer being interactive. Thank you for the likes, but let's be friends and have fun by exchanging ideas through responses and comments. Kisses, Toni

YOU get paid if someone 'likes' something you do, yes. They don't earn for it. I actually disabled the 'like' notifications, they were too bothersome. A 'like' shows interest, and it is one of the conditions we earn for.

I know it shows interests. But why would someone just like everything I did without responding to any of the discussions and comments that they liked? Maybe i should disable my like notification too. Thanks for the info.

@JolietJake Yeah, I guess it became a habit to them coz they got so used to it in bubblews.

@toniganzon I've tried to tell a few users I see 'liking' everything that they don't earn for doing it, but a lot of them don't listen

i was tempted to press the "like" button but didn't because of what you wrote. I hope you appreciate the will power it took me to resist the urge. Now I will have to press the emoji several times to compensate

Hahaha didn't say you couldn't like it if you really do! You still could, but I'd appreciate your response more actually. What I am not really so happy about is when people just like everything of what i did but they don't respond at all.

@josie_ i wish, or they just thought they get paid for doing that. I'd appreciate if they were star struck by my gorgeous face and body.

I have custotmized my notification , in such a way that it doesn't show the likes anymore in my notification . At least i go directly to who commented and can easily wipe out my notifications one by one .

@toniganzon Yes, i don't like that too . I prefer that they like and also comment because i think when they like we earn for that also .

I had someone 'like' every response and comment on one of my posts the other day too. No comment of his own - as you say, I think he must have been under the misapprehension that it earned for him.

Yep that's what some thought that they could earn from that. I guess they should go back to reading the rules again.

It's not the notification that bothers me but the act itself of liking without actually responding or commenting.

Yes I thought we were only paid by commenting and not for likes. People must enjoy reading your posts so are liking them

If you read the earnings FAQ you would see we get paid for three different interactions we receive here. Replies. likes (which show interest) and reading (if someone follows a link to read what you have written).

@JolietJake Gee thanks. Then i think the rules really have changed. Because it wasn't so 6 years ago. I have read the FAQ when i came back but I guess i missed that part.

I guess we are wrong because @JolietJake said we are paid. However, we don't get paid like how bubblews does with the likes before.

I'm not sure but it's also an activity so maybe if our discussion gets a lot of lokes then it's an earning for us. I disabled my likes notifications though. So sorting would be easy.

They're not paid when you like somebody's post. You are paid when somebody interacts with you like when i responded to you right now.

here i dont think they paid for like otherwise we earn more as we likes all discussion and like notification just make notification and its not important so i remove like notification so its easy to reply for important notification but here some people who like discussion but not respond to it so its not good ha ha...

It's just like facebook. we get notification of likes and responses or comments. The purpose is to let you know who gives you likes and who commented on your postings.

I know exactly what the purpose is. And I am not bothered by the notification at all. I am bothered by the likes with no comments at all. How else could we have a discussion if you will just like all my posts and say nothing about it? Isn't it defeating the purpose of this site?

Maybe you're right, but i don't see any point in liking someone's posts when you don't respond at all. It defeats the purpose of this site which is DISCUSSION!
@JolietJake (50190)

A 'like' is a form of interaction, it 'shows interest' and we are paid for that.

give and take? That isn't my thing. I love how it used to be on mylot where we just all chatted like friends and share our ideas. Liking my posts without saying anything, isn't a discussion.
