Next Customer Markers At Shop Tills

I am really beginning to hate shopping at supermarkets where the staff on checkouts are often clueless. It is a regular pet hate when the large queue is reduced by the opening of a second toil (that should have been open in the first place) and all the people behind me are able to get there before me.
Another trend is to partition off separate customer goods on the moving platforms that draw our goods slowly to the till with little marker boards saying next customer please and bearing adverts for what the shop considers to be bargains.
The marker is a good idea as it stops the till operator charging a customer for goods the next customer in the line wants to buy instead of just the goods the customer in front want, but as the boards are slid back along a groove by the moving platform, customers themselves place the markers out to declare this is the point where their shopping ends. A few customers ahead of me seem to slam the markers down in contempt, as if looking at my purchases and saying they would never be so common as to buy such tawdry cheap items (even if they already have the same goods).
It’s just something else to make shopping a living Hell.

I never cared what others buy, or pay attention to what was on the other side of the line myself other than a mild, I wonder what all they need THAT combo for, hehehe

I love our local independent supermarket. As soon as the checkouts look like clogging up they instantly call up more people to open up new tills. A few of the very new, young tellers are a bit slow but otherwise the service is great.

My daughter decided to stop going to the supermarket. Her husband does that chore for her, although he forgets some girlie things many times.
Now that I´m retired, I go at what I call, ol´witches hours. That is, when most of the people are at work. I try to buy everything then. Weekends, the end of the month when people get paid, are hell.

My pet peeve is the people who don't use the markers at all. That's what they are for.
