There Lies The Truth

A somewhat famous youtube celebrity has been accused of a serious crime. I'm not going to say whether or not I believe he is guilty because I don't know and there is absolutely no evidence. At this point it is his word against his accuser's. The fact is the accuser's claims are just that and if it had actually happened as she said then she should have immediately gone to the police. She lived with him, had relations with him. Some have said her story has too many inconsistencies and what she says happened can't be true. Other women have come forward and said he wasn't a very nice person that he had issues but none have made the claim the accuser did. Do I think she's making it up? I don't know but I do know that her story doesn't match up with the facts. She claimed to have been drugged and passed out. Someone said the drug she said he used on her would not have done that to her and going on that fact I have to say her story has little credence. Plus the fact that the other woman said he was a jerk but he never did it to any of them and had ample opportunity.

If it is untrue (whatever it is) it is a gross injustice and might tarnish his life or at least his reputation for ever. There seems no defence for celebrities against this sort of accusation.

I agree. It is defamation of character if untrue and even if he sued and won it would still be hanging over his head.

@irishidid The other thing that happens here from time to time is that some authority will sue someone with something pretty nasty then, just before it comes to court, they drop the charge. But the damage to the person's character has been done by then not to mention the expense incurred.

Whenever someone who is a celebrity becomes suddenly notorious and accused in lawsuits, I take what is said on both sides with a grain of salt.

The problem is where she made the accusation and the fact she didn't report it.
