How Do You Handle Followers and Following

I wonder how everyone deals with followers and following here on MyLot. Many people seem to think that it is good to have a lot of people that they follow. I am more of the opinion that I will only follow those who are interesting and who interact.
I have just been culling those that I follow since I haven't heard from many of them in well forever!! lol Do you care how many people you follow? Do you follow people just because they follow you? I am just curious, I know that there is no right and wrong when it comes to who and how many followers you have.

Yes we would be overwhelmed wouldn't we. I wonder when people follow me on their first day, I am not that fascinating!! lol

@BelleStarr Of course you are fascinating! The trouble with all these followers is that they follow and then you never see them again. I want some interaction before I follow.

I agree with you here as it is impossible to follow everyone that starts following me. There are times when I can't be on here so many hours and then I don't get to chat with many people. Everyday is different and everyone has different needs and time restrictions.

I don't follow everyone who follows me. Basically I follow those who have the same interests, and those who are interesting to read, have something to say, even if I don't agree with them. I do not follow those who write only one line of post and call it a post.

I quite agree. I looked at my list to see if maybe I have lost touch with some that I would prefer not to lose touch with.

I interact with people who interact with me. The do not necessarily follow me, nor I then. I follow everyone who follows me, but that is more a habit than anything.

Yes that makes perfect sense. I interact with everyone whether I follow them or not. I just wait to follow until I see that it is a lasting relationship.

@GardenGerty, I do the same thing. Sometimes I am overwhelmed as I have so many messages and that is when I don't get on the computer until later in the day.

I still have people that I follow from when I first started out here. Hoping that they will flounder back here one day so we can reconnect.
Truthfully I have no rhyme or reason behind whom I choose to follow. I do get a little freaked when someone is following me from out of the blue and they never leave a single comment.

That is what I find upsetting, they don't take the time to get to know us they don't even read or comment , they just follow!!

It only took about two minutes, but it really is all about what you like, there is no right or wrong.

Yes I agree with that. Though it is nice sometimes to have a back and forth interaction it is not always possible because of time differences.

As far as I can tell that feature only does two things. One it gives a list of people that you suggest posts to and it gives a list under the menu at the top Follows. Since I only use notifications and the Explore menu it really doesn't matter to me. I only follow people back to be polite if they have followed me.

I am not polite. I only follow those who interact with me .But everything is fine it is a personal choice.

My way might not be the best way for others. Visiting the page of someone who commented on my page is first for me. Next, checking what followers are doing.

I have given up looking in that direction. Even if I respond to posts they neither come back to comment nor respond to mine. The few that interact with me keep me busy here.

I only follow those that I have something in common with and I try to keep that number as low as I can. I want to be a faithful follower, so hence the choice to keep the numbers down. I will still do others discussions that I am not following but that follow me.

I agree , there is only so many people we can really interact with on any given day and having tons of followers to keep up with just isn't possible.

@BelleStarr I feel that too many on my list would be too impersonal and I would feel stressed that I couldn't get to everyone's work. We have to enjoy the site!

I don't care about numbers, some people like a big following or like to follow a lot of people. I will follow most who follow me because I see them around when I am here and they will usually commenting on my topics, or interact with me.

We can't stop people from following us but when they don't interact I wonder why they bother!!

@BelleStarr I'm not sure. There are a lot of people here who really don't understand how this system works, so they try a lot of things in hopes that something will just work. I'm sure it's frustrating for them, too!

I did pretty much the same thing but by looking at who I was following I saw lots of names that I didn't recognize so I just disconnected.
