Have you got a gym membership?

I have never thought about getting a gym membership as it is quite pricey and I prefer to just use a stationary bike at home to do some cardio. I am starting to think maybe it would be a good idea to do some muscle workouts and make my muscle stronger, but again not sure if it is worth the gym membership price considering I will have limited time to go to the gym anyway with work!
What about you, do you have a gym membership?

I don't have a gym membership. I think the main thing with a gym is that the motivation is there to go regularly. If you've paid for a membership that in itself will encourage you to attend. And they have all the gear of course although you can make do with cheaper equipment.

does the membership come with a gym instructor? in my case, I need a gym instructor to guide me how to work out (although I haven't worked out for a long time now) because he'd tell me which parts of my body that I should focus on.

When I was working I had a gym membership and went on my lunch hour. I negotiated a 2 hours lunch with my boss instead of another pay rise. I loved it!
Now, I am retired and I do not have a gym membership.
But if you are not planning to use it at least 3 times a week, it is not worth the money.

@gudheart Time is mine, My only days off are Saturdays and Sunday and I find it hard to be sweating in a gym when I could be at the beach being a bum lol

I didn't get any gym membership, besides it's costly, I can't afford to go to gym often. I used to think of getting a gym membership, as it's sponsored by my ex-company, but it's quite troublesome for me to go to the gym, so I finally gave it up.

I keep considering giving up my gym membership but always feel I will miss not having it. My gym has two swimming pools (indoor and outdoor), sauna, jacuzzi, steam room, squash courts and badminton courts, as well as the actual gym, all included in my monthly fee. I don't use the squash courts but I do have the occasional game of badminton and I swim regularly and use the gym regularly and I would be lost without a sauna.
In terms of not having the time, I make sure I make time!

I don't have one but have thought about it. I would love to just walk a few miles a day in a safe environment.

@gudheart I do pretty much, it's the dogs running around I don't like. People are supposed to keep their dogs leashed but they don't

If you wish to increase muscle strength, I'd strongly advise you to refrain from too much cardio and focus more on resistance training using free weights or body-weight exercises. There are 2 ways to proceed from here:
1. If you have a Planet Fitness gym in or near your locality, I'd recommend you join it. It's membership is only 10$ a month and it's open 24 hours. Any other cheap gym with the basic weights will do. Joining a gym is beneficial because it provides you with a routine, ensuring that you don't slack off (you're paying after all). It also provides a motivational environment because trust me, working out with people is better than working out alone. It also provides you with trainers who'll guide you every step of the way and make sure you're making progress.
2. If for whatever reason you do not wish to join a gym, you could do body-weight exercises, at home or in the park. These exercises include push ups, pull ups, core strengthening exercises, etc. Here's a link to give you a better idea regarding this.
You'll be surprised how effective these bodyweight exercises can be for maintaining your muscle and fitness.

No, I don't have a gym membership and I am not going to have one. First, I just don't have free time to do exercises in the gym. Second, the membership is usually expensive and I am afraid one day the gym will be broke and my money will be spent in vain. Third, doing exercises in the gym is boring for me. I like to go outdoors to do exercises.

I don't have one i just work out at home on my elliptical and then i do alot of walking and other exercises when i get motivated too. I should exercise every day but some days I'm just too tired to do it. I don't pay a membership as it's 5 dollars each time you want to use the gym i rather pay that because there may be days I can't go to the gym

No need to go for a gym membership.
I think you just find those sites similar to Groupon where you can get vouchers to use in gym.
If you have friends who are always joining those sports event, as in those running events or mass walk events, they will have vouchers for free gym usage for a limited period.

Not any more but I did a few years ago... I hated leaving the warmth of the house mid winter to go out to the gym. I prefer to do it at home.
