Have you been to a theater lately? I think you could buy a couple subscriptions to streaming online for the price of a ticket now couldn't you? I haven't been to a movie theater since we took my grandson to the first Thor movie. That was in 2011. If I can't see it on cable or Netflix I probably won't be seeing it. How about yourself? Been to a movie theater recenlty?

Even cheaper yet to watch it on Netflix any time you like.

you couldn't pay me to go anymore.everything's overpriced, people on cell phones, and the old "let's bring a small child to an R movie and let them scream or act up" scenario.
no thanks.plus i know when the last time my bathroom was cleaned..

We often go to discount movies theaters - the movies are just a few months old - and we can certainly wait if we want to see a movie on the big screen. The prices to go a see a current movie is just NUTS. That being said, there are occasions where we just HAVE to see a movie (like when Star Wars The Force Awakens came out
) - so we will indulge - but it's not often we do that.

@much2say ...I never carried a backpack. Too obvious. But a purse or on me. Theater prices are rediculous. Even the cheap theaters are too much now days.

@celticeagle I should add that we bring in our popcorn and waters too when we can too. But they wouldn't let me bring in my backpack with Star Wars. I know, theater prices are really high now.

I go sometimes if I really want to see the movie. The theatres have improved big time. Ticket prices, not so much.

I like the cool chairs down front in the theaters. Prices are horrible. I started just going to the epic films that I wanted to see on the big screen. Now I don't even do that. Last time I went was to the first Thor movie.

Hi celticeagle. I have not been to a movie theater in over 10 years. There really is not an appeal that keeps me going there anymore. As you know, cable, Netflix, dvds, other instant video resources do not make going out to the movies all that exciting anymore. Don't forget about the cellphones people may bring. I cannot make sense of how it was ever an idea to make it a convenient accommodation to use cellphones at the movies. People will always go to the movie theater for the sake of going out, but I can't think of any other reason.

@celticeagle There really is not much reason to go out to see a movie these days.

It sure does. It would probably cost us $50-60 to go see one movie. Ugh!

It seems so much nicer to just watch the movie at home. The popcorn is better-and the drinks are certainly cheaper!

That is so true. And, you can pause it when you need to go potty.

It's a shame too. My favorite film reviewer says this new version of the Jungle Book should be seen on the big screen.

I haven't been to one for nearly ten years.
I prefer watching films at home, it is way cheaper and far more convenient.
I'm actually surprised so many people go out to watch films, I thought the streaming services would have put a stop to that.
I think it's only a matter of time before these online companies make a film as they've done well with various online nly tv shows they've made.

I hope they don't up the streaming services price.
