More Like 1920s Italian Politics Every Day

I just read a report in "The Hill" that RNC leaders and Republican Convention delegates have been receiving death threats and promises of bloodshed at the convention if Trumpolini doesn't get the nomination. Now, there is no proof that these people are working at the behest of, or with the blessings of, the Trump campaign. Nor is there any record that Trumpolini or his spokespersons have repudiated or condemned the people making the threats. Looks like we don't need a time machine and lessons in Italian to find out what it felt like to watch Italian politics at work in the 1920s. All we have to do is watch the Trump Campaign. Do you think Trump is aware his followers are making death threats against delegates to the convention? PS: The photo is from Pixabay and has nothing to do with the post. I just thought it might make @JolietJake feel better to spot some SPAM.

I know it happens but I still find it hard to believe that people would kill others simply for such a flimsy reason. I've obviously been living in the backblocks too long.

Trumpolini has attracted some seriously radical right wing bigots and haters to his campaign. I'm not really surprised to read about things like this happening. It was The Donald himself that warned about riots if he didn't get the nomination on the first ballot.

Maybe only in America, @JudyEv.

@JamesHxstatic The crowds get pretty heated in our cities now too! We always used to say we were about 10 years behind the US. Maybe we're catching up! :)

Monday April 25 is Liberation Day in my country. It marks the fall of Mussolini's Italian Social Republic and the end of the Nazi occupation in Italy in 1945, towards the end of the second World War. When everything started it was not bad at all, but we know how it ended.

Yes, Mussolini received much praise from around the world, at first, until he allied with Hitler and the Nazis.

@DWDavis Exactly, he did a lot for Italy before he went nut and he allied with Hitler. Italy steel uses the same railroad stations that he built, there is not a lot that those who followed had done, other than pocketing money.

Last I heard it was the Bernie Sanders protesters provoking the Trump supporters to act violently. I am not sure how they can explain this one.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Trump's followers had agitators among the Sanders supporters trying to foment the violence. Trump does not believe in the First Amendment, and doesn't like protesters because the point out the emptiness of his policies.

I don't think he could beat Hillary. Less than half the Republican voters even like him, and a very few Democrat voters. Hillary would make him look like more of a buffoon than he already looks like in a one-on-one debate.

I am sure he knows and he had better be finding a way to tamp down the eagerness to be violent that his out of control rhetoric has already sparked.

Trump's LA rally turned violent but it was the Marxist, anarchist, and Progressives who initiated the violence.

I hadn't heard that. It's a sad day for America if we can't do what our conscience decides and must be at the mercy of people who would bully their way to the top of the totem pole to get the top spot.

Judging from all I've read, it wouldn't surprise me at all that he knows.
