Fibromyalgia Never Rests

Sometimes I find myself asking "What is wrong with me?" Just when I think I have fibromyalgia figured out, have it managed, under control, something happens which makes me ask that question. Early this morning I was in bed, went to turn over using both my hands to push myself up to turn over. I felt excruciating pain in both shoulders. I have had pain in my right shoulder for awhile but this was both shoulders. I sat in bed and moaned for a few minutes before I moved to the chaise in the living room where I slept until 7:30am. Hubby said he heard me moaning. Nice of him to show concern. Today I am feeling discomfort in both shoulders and my neck. I checked my massage therapist's schedule. She had one opening for Monday, nothing sooner, so I booked it. I was just there not too long ago. My insurance company covers $500/year which averages about one 60-minute massage every other month. I probably won't make it to the end of the year. I wish there was an exception of coverage for people with chronic pain. I cleaned up my drafted letter to my Member of Parliament and sent it off today. He is the only one I believe can get me my Disability Pension. I hope he does. My younger daughter is home from university and she had every intention of going back to work next week at the plant she worked at last summer, however they are not sure they are hiring students this year. Great! That's all we need is another summer of her not being able to find work. I am so tired all the time I can't find the energy to focus on working on my novel. I can find the time, just not the energy. That's frustrating too. I'm sick of fibromyalgia.

The massage therapy sounds good, more often with that kind of pain however

I honestly think the stretching exercises my doctor gave me are making it worse. I've been doing some yoga stretches. I thought that was supposed to help fibro. Not for me.

I had to look up this illness you have and already, the symptoms are enough to make me wince. I can't imagine how I'm gonna live with fibromyalgia. But I think, at least you have a support system. You still have people who care for you and that they understand.

To some extent they understand. I wouldn't say I have much of a support system. My husband gets frustrated with my ups and downs and my not working. One thing's for dang sure, my first husband wouldn't have been able to handle it. He thought doing crossword puzzles was lazy.

@maxen07 Thanks, but I have too much on my plate. I'm trying to eliminate stuff so I can work on my novel. I don't seem to be having too much success in that regard.

@patgalca If crossword puzzles alleviates your stress, it's a must. If you're into online working, try rev.com if you haven't had the chance to see it. People are earning as transcriptionists, captioning videos and as translators. I'm about to take the tests for video captioning but I need to familiarize myself with the guidelines first. If you have the time, why not apply? Only consider if it's not going to be too much work.

I know what is coming from. Why don't you try to ask some treatment from a physiatrist. I think they can help you out.

I'd say physical therapy might be worth a shot, especially if the insurance will cover it. I found the aquatic therapy sessions I had to be somewhat beneficial. The relief I had didn't last more than a few hours, though.

@yukimori I've been to physical therapy for my tennis elbow, which keeps returning. Again, only $500 a year which doesn't go very far at all. The aquatic classes are early in the morning (early for me). In the summer I do a bit of a work out in our own pool.

I hear you on the fibromyalgia pain. I suffer with it too and it's turned my life upside down. Even with medication, I struggle with daily pain.

At my last doctor's appointment she gave me some stretching exercises to do. I think they were more for aging than for fibro. My pains have gotten worse since I started doing them. I just got back from the massage therapist. Boy did she hit some painful spots!

This must be the most frustrating thing. I don't think I'd ever heard of it till I joined Bubblews.
