Brushes And Bristles

Do you use nail brushes on your fingers and toes? We have them on the sink and in the shower.
I notice that manicurists here prefer the small nail brushes, maybe because they have short and stiff bristles.
I've always liked the bigger nail brushes. I feel that they have wider coverage, especially for my toes, and don't hurt as much, but have to replace them sooner because the softer bristles wear down faster.
But with toothbrushes, I always preferred the medium bristles. Hard bristles might cause my gums to bleed.
I know electric toothbrushes are common in other countries, but I've only known two people who used them here. Which toothbrush do you find effective?
Do you repurpose worn down nail and toothbrushes?
I have wavy hair and always used wide-toothed combs. My sister once had but lost a Denman hairbrush that we all liked. The bristles were long but set apart and felt good on the scalp.
I've read that hair brushes with 100% pure and natural boar bristles are the best, but are also very expensive. Have you tried them? Which comb or brush works best for your hair?

We probably should use the nail brushes - but we don't! Too much stuff on the bathroom counters as it is! We use soft bristles for toothbrushes - the kids have both the manual and electric ones (I'm looking into the electric ones for ourselves!). The dentist says no special toothbrush is needed as long as you have the technique - and explains that flossing is equally as important. My son is the only one with the natural boar bristle brush - and it works really well on his fine, short hair! The rest of us have regular plastic brushes - combs aren't enough for our hair it seems.
Repurposing toothbrushes: We used to dip it in paint and flick the bristles with our fingers to create a cool splatter effect on our illustrations!

@hereandthere The boar bristle brush that I got was more expensive than the plastic ones, but I don't think it was super expensive - less than $10 anyway. I don't blow dry or style my hair
. You know what, I think I have the toothbrush I used for art when I was 20 . . . still in my art tool box, I think!

@much2say even those who fix electric fans for a living here have old toothbrushes in their toolkit

maybe the boar bristles depend on the hair texture, too? because there were conflicting comments in one blog i read. is it really expensive?
i think of hairbrushes as for styling, like when you're blowdrying your hair, which we don't really do.
it's so cool (and not surprising really) that you found a use for old toothbrushes in your art.

@hereandthere my mother always reminds me to brush my nails but I always forget. LOL
My nails are clean but most of the time, some soap stain remains on my nails. Hihihi

I like a medium toothbrush, and I don't use brushes for my nails. Now I'm looking at my nails wondering if I should start. lol :)

i don't know in other countries, but those that give manicures and pedicures here use the small nail brush.
you can use it after washing the dishes or in the shower.

@hereandthere Are the brushes to just clean them or are they supposed to give them a more polished look?

it's easier to detanlge my hair with a wide-toothed comb so it doesn't pull at my scalp
nail brushes help remove dirt and it's great while your hands and feet are wet

I didn't really get into the different kinds of brushes until my son made me aware of them. For some reasons he's really into brushes - paint brushes, hair brushes, cleaning brushes, etc... He seems to be fascinated by the different shapes and their purposes for any particular job.

I don't use nail brushes too often, but my husband does every day. I can only use soft, small toothbrushes, whether hand held or electric. I have several hair brushes, including Denman, but always detangle my hair with a wide tooth comb. A round medium size brush works best on my hairstyle now.

My dentist always told me to get soft bristle brushes for my teeth and gums. He said they do the job without irritating anything. So I've used those most of my life with great results. I don't use brushes on my hands or feet, although I use a tulle scrubby. It does the job without hurting anything. As for my hair, it's very long and very thick so I never use a brush (they can't get through my hair at all). I have a wide tooth comb that I use all the time. It's easy to get out the tangles and it easy goes through my hair and keeps things soft and looking good. :)

for hair I use Paganini brand comb/brush.
