Bernie was in town yesterday; I did not attend

Oregon is pretty enthusiastic about Bernie and he has been to Portland and now to Springfield, just across the McKenzie River from my town of Eugene. The campaign claimed 8000 people showed up, the newspaper said about 5000, a good crowd in either case.
We have over 22000 college students around here and Bernie is popular with them (after all, he is for free tuition). A lot of people I know are for Bernie and Oregon is (thankfully) a very liberal state. He may win here, but California is doubtful I think.
If he had a realistic way of getting his ideas through Congress and paying for them, I would be a fan too. But, pie in the sky rarely happens. We need incremental change. Only the Democratic party offers that and has the interests of people who are not wealthy at heart and that goes all the way back to Hoover.

I think Bernie will win Oregon. It's symbolic now. Whether or not a person likes Bernie. he has to be respected for not quitting when he's basically done and pressing his case all the way to the convention. I am not a Bernie person by any means but I respect that he stands by his beliefs and isn't devious.

He has pulled the conversation left and that is okay with me.

@JamesHxstatic Way too far left for me but that's a matter of difference of opinion not about the man.

The sad thing is no politician has a plan to pay for their ideas. Kind of hard to when we do not have a consistent tax code. Probably a position a politician could run on, but everyone hates taxes and do not ever see the system changing much, as people love money to much. They would never come close to winning on that platform. That is why every Republican just says cut taxes and spending and many can have a long political career. I have yet seen that platform create jobs and balance the budget, yet it wins most of the time.

Love not hate. I wonder what the Quakers think of all this ruckus? I am not a meditator but this particular voting crudola could drive me to a nunnery. Enough crap. Lets honor the flag and each other and no, I do not pretend to know who to vote for- and yet I will not vote for a Reality TV chump who has a big assed mouth. And here comes My Lot. The A word is in the bible. Honest.

Yep, I saw many years ago where the jawbone was used as a weapon of some kind. I will vote for the nominated Democrat since I am not a wealthy American. I am sure that her name will be Hillary.

I feel the same way you do. I'm going to vote for Hillary. Now that Trump is the "presumptive GOP candidate," several of my husband's Wall Street clients are also going to vote for Hillary, even though they are Republicans. They honestly believe she is the more moderate of the two, and they do not want to get into trade wars or any other type of war, if it can be avoided. Trump was here in Orange county yesterday at the Orange County Fair on the edge of Newport Beach. There were riots in the street right across from Orange Coast college. Never thought I would see the day!

Yes, quite a shock I'm sure. He and his policies would tear the country even further apart than it already is.

@JamesHxstatic - I hope Donald Trump doesn't come back to Orange County. Nothing positive came out of his being here. The people who plan to vote for him will do so, whether he returns or not.

I think we are of like mind. I was disappointed that the wonderful ideas Obama had were derailed by the obstructionist GOP. I would be crushed if that happened again. So, instead of voting for Bernie, with whom I agree almost 100%, I will vote for Hillary. Her ideas are moving in the direction I think is good for the country, and have a chance of actually happening.
By the way, the Donald was fairly near to my area yesterday, and in NoCal today. I thought it was hysterical that protesters created a wall (of people) in front of the convention center in Burlingame, so the Donald and his group had to go around and enter from another direction. That's what would happen if he ever built his wall on the border, people would still come into the country by sea, the northern route and by plane.

Yes, he had to scramble up a slope from the freeway. I hope the demonstrations don't backfire since many are carrying Mexican flags.

@JamesHxstatic I have always believed that hispanic and other protesters make a HUGE mistake when they carry foreign flags during their demonstrations. They separate themselves from the native born people here who would support their cause by putting icons of their past first.
