Not the Day I Was Expecting

I pulled up my manuscript, read the last completed chapter, and drew a blank. I hate it when I need to write and can't. So I watched a couple episodes of a series I started yesterday on Netflix and came back to it, and still nothing, so I opened another manuscript and that was going fine, but got side-tracked by my son, needing to do his homework. Which is way more important. So I saved the manuscript and we started the dictation process.
He turned in his rough draft on Tuesday and now he's working on the final with a lot of feedback from his teacher all over his papers. So a couple hours of working on his homework, looking up necessary information, and getting it looking somewhat where he wants to go with it, he made a lot of headway with it. I'm only the typist. It's his work, 100%.
So, he's off to work and I tried working on the manuscript, but noticed the time and realized I'm not going to get the notifications done today if I don't get started on them, so I'm back.
Has your day gone as planned, or were you side-tracked as I was going in a completely different direction?
Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to get some work done on Freedom's Cry. I hope so. Maybe I need to scrap the beginning of the next chapter or move that down the timeline a bit. We'll see. I know it will work, maybe just not where it is.
Anyway, thanks for reading.

Thanks. I hope so too. I really need to get back to this book. I'd like to have it finished by the time the second edition of the first novel comes out.

Sounds like a busy day for you. Mine is coming to a close. I'll go to bed early tonight. Hubby is off to his aunt's until tomorrow night. I get the bed all to myself. Oh wait, I have to share it with Dusty, our cat.

@just4him She lays near my legs and will move about when I stretch out or change position. I actually slept through the night.

@ElusiveButterfly I'm afraid I would end up kicking the cat off the bed if it slept between my legs. I'm a tosser, so the cat would have to find somewhere else to sleep. If it were a cat, it would need to anyway as I'm allergic to cats. My son had a cat once that loved to get into my room and on my bed. His cat hair drove me nuts. My dog used to sleep on the bed with me. I really miss having a dog.

My days always change from what I have planned. What serials are you watching?

It seems to me that days never go as planned ... but it is always good to start out with a plan, anyway.

No side tracks for me today which is nice. Some days I am good at just going with the flow and other days it gets on my last nerve when things don't go the way I think they ought to. Hope you get unblocked so you can continue your writings. I think it is sweet of you to help your son with his work. Hope he does well with his papers. Have a blessed evening.

Yes. I need to have Scarred ready for the second edition by August. I also want to have Freedom's Cry done by then so by the time the other two are in published in second edition, that one will be ready to publish. So I have about fifteen months to get that one finished, the editing, and revision completed, and make certain I've taken care of all the grammar and punctuation errors as well as any typos I might have overlooked. So I have a lot to do between now and then. If I can get Freedom's Cry done by August, everything should be doable.

I am sorry that happened to you, Valerie.
Not getting your notifications done happens... Don't stress over that. Save the stressing for something that matters!

@just4him I live in the middle of the city. I purposely took pictures of my plants because I don't like.... well.....
Our neighbors always watch us. We don't know why. We used to have good ones who spoke to us when we were out and left us alone otherwise. Now, we tend to hide behind the plant screens I grow every year.
Pretty and I aren't real sociable. She can't be so I tend not to be, either.

Not stressed DE. I'm almost done with the notifications and it will be in good time too. I hope you're doing well. I haven't seen you around until a couple days ago. Read your new post. It looks like you live in a rural type community. I didn't see much in the way of sidewalks.

@Drosophila I finished the chapter last night, and actually got the next chapter done this morning, but that one is out of necessity a very short chapter. I'm now on the next and it's going well. I've written a bit more than 4000 words total since yesterday.

I remember dad typed for me once upon a time, but that was back when we had a ribbon typerwriter! I remember crying because I messed up, and we had no white out.

@just4him I was always sooo bad at it. I made so many mistakes. I was mad I couldn't just write my paper!

@Jessicalynnt That's why I always had a bottle of whiteout next to my elbow. I was glad when they came up with the self correcting typewriter, and the computer is a God send.

I have never tried to write a book, but often find my mind goes blank when I am writing for a blog. I have a project I am working on, have lots of thoughts in my head, but need to settle down and put them in writing. Do you write on paper first, and then put in computer, or do you type directly into a document?

@AnneEJ It's the best way. I haven't written anything down in a while, though while I was working I would have a legal pad available and write between phone calls, if possible, and then put that onto the computer when I got home.
