I don't know how it is where you are but here in this area of Florida there is an ongoing battle about the bathrooms in the schools.
It turns out that on of the Central Florida school boards have decided that the children will go into the bathrooms of the sex on their birth certificates.
In other words, if they were born a boy they use a boys bathroom, if born a girl they use the girls bathroom.
A transgender young person will not be allowed to use the restroom of the sex they identify with. At least, not yet. It seems that down the road they will plan to have restrooms for transgender students.
There have been protests and unset people concerning this issue.
What do you think?

I am not a transgendered person, so I do not know first handed the feelings that they have.
But I do know as the person that I am that I feel that there is too much talk and emphasis put on this subject as of late.
I worked with a lady, who became that in her later years as she was born a man. I knew how it made me feel about using the same washrooms, but I kept it private so that I didn't offend her, and I think that our society needs to do a bit more of that. Or they need to add another set of washrooms all together and let it be.

Maybe we should have smaller individual bathrooms that are more private and anyone can use them?

I have been reading about this discussion. I will be interested to see what happens in the end. I think there should be a smaller wash room for transgender, but it also makes me wonder how many school aged kids have gone through that process. I thought It was adults only..

@PainsOnSlate I think that kids are sexually aware so much younger today than when we were younger. I am interested to see what happens also. It is certainly causing stir here.

If a transitioning man who is not yet a woman went into a women's bathroom I wouldn't be comfortable with that. Why can't they just have a bathroom for girls, a bathroom for boys, and one (with just one toilet) that's unisex.
