Learning other langugaes is fun. During my college days, I will always find a time to study Spanish words and phrases. I love how was I able to talk to Spanish native speakers using their language. I have been also interested in Mandarin Chinese even it seems very daunting to study. At the moment I am studying Hanggeul. Are there other languages that you are paying attention to nowadays? What makes you interested in those languages?

Hola amigo! I love Spanish a lot since I have many friends who speak that language. It is great opportunity to learn when we have someone to practice with .

Did you attend a class for your Spanish and Hanggeul courses? French is also an impressive language.

@toniganzon Wow! No more Spanish subjects offered in my college. I wish there were. Anyway, how about your Hanggeul? Did you study it using books or you did it online?

I can construct a Spanish sentence before but because I do not practice Spanish anymore, my knowledge for the language diminished. I think that learning another foreign language will really come in handy especially if you love to travel.

@annierose I think you need to use it because once you have stopped learning and not using it, over time you will forget what you have learned.

@rona07 That is nice. I think she loves your idea of studying Indian language. I think that studying a foreign language is also like studying the culture of the people using that language.

In school I have learned English, French and Spanish. French has become my second language, as I moved from Italy to France and I lived there for 20 years.

@LadyDuck But at least you can understand, right? It is the same way in my Spanish. Sometimes I know what they are trying to say but I just do not know how to reply in Spanish.

Spanish is the only foreign language that I took at school, but I was given a choice between Spanish or Chemistry, which caused me to drop the subject after 2 years.

Yes, I am interested in learning a foreign language. However, today I can't learn it formally. It is fine that I just learn a few to cope with the common usage.

@annierose I learned some French in the past but I found it was much more difficult than English. Now I forgot most of them already.

@youless I think so that if we will not keep on practicing a foreign language, we will eventually forget them. Why did you choose French?

I hear Mandarin Chinese is very difficult, so good for you! I learned Japanese for about 5 years during a class and also started learing Spanish but never really put much time into it. Its hard to learn when you dont take a class or have other people to converse with i find.

I have been struggling with Mandarin Chinese because it is a tonal language. I am lucky that I have friends who are patient enough to teach me Chinese.I agree with you about learning a language in a formal class. I think I can learn it faster if I attend a class rather than doing everything by myself.

Necessity is the mother of inventions i say it so because i love watching animes and would love to learn Japanese. Since its pain to read those subtitles and watch the anime at same time.

When I was still studying at UST, we had Spanish subjects. I didn't learn a lot during that time because it wasn't my interest. When I enrolled at Instituto Cervantes for my Spanish classes, I became interested in the language. When I have time, I try to polish my Spanish by using duolingo and practicing my written & spoken Spanish using the application and some of my Spanish books.

What motivates you to study Spanish.? IS Duolingo an app? I have heard so much about it lately but don't know exactly what it is.

@annierose One of my remote jobs is translation. I like the high pay in that language pair (ENG-SP). Also, it's widely spoken and it would be good in my application for foreign scholarships if I'm fluent in other languages. Further, one who is fluent in French/Spanish has an advantage when it comes to vacancies in international organizations and multinational corporations. I've been wanting to work for an international organization, preferably UN. Yes, it's a free application and covers a lot of languages. I downloaded it here on my laptop.

As you get older, it gets difficult to learn a new language, i could pick up languages more easy when i was younger but not any more.

I agree. It is easier for a child to learn another language that adults;however, learning another language even we are already old is not impossible. It just takes time.

Yes, I agree. It is impressive once a person knows how to say a particular greeting or expressions in different languages such as the word "Hello!"

I have good Mexican friends. I would love to visit Mexico and study there as well. Spanish langugae is very close to my heart. Maybe because we already have some Spanish words blended in our langugae.
