My Heart Jumps for My Next Travel Destinations

Travelling does not need to be expensive, that is my belief. That is why I love to plan my trip many months before the scheduled flight. It takes time for me to book a flight because I wait for a seat sale. It is also the same with accommodation in which I prefer to book early. When I found out that my dream flight to Australia will already be cancelled due to my visa denial, I started to feel uncertain that I will be able to have a trip while it is still my vacation. Fortunately, I spotted a promo flight and I am able to save half the normal price of the ticket. Now, I am looking forward to my next destination which will be Hongkong and Macau. I am planning to spend one day in Macau and 2 days in Hong kong. I am studying now for my itinerary and the cost of my stay for those 2 countries which will be my first time to visit. Have you been to another country? What are your usual preparations when you have a trip in a foreign land?

i usually learn to say hello,no please or no thanks, where is,can i and thank you in the native language as this can go a long way in a foreign country. Then inform yourself of security, does and donts as a tourist.Dont worry too much of it,you`ll be fine.

Thanks for the encouraging words. I hope the Hong Kong Nationals are not angry anymore with Filipinos because of the hostage crisis that happened in the Philippines last 2010 in which their people became the victims.

Yes, i have been to Bangkok, Cambodia, Singapore, Johor Malaysia, and Kuala Lumpur. I don't have a usual preparation since we normally book a ticket only on the days that we can be available for a vacation so no promo tickets for us most of the time. I couldn't book ahead since i don't know when I will be free exactly. So normally, it's just one week before or one month the most.

It must really cost a lot of money. I travelled last year on the exact date of my birthday. I was lucky because we have long weekend after that. I just got absent for one day at work. Do you travel yearly?

I hope you will have a nice trip. There are many nice food in Hong Kong. I personally like Ocean Park rather than Disney Land in Hong Kong. I have been to Thailand, Russia and Singapore. It is necessary to prepare the trip before arriving. Such as you shall figure out whether you need to buy a phone card there. You also need to book a hotel in advance. Of course checking the traffic is also important.

@annierose It is very interesting that finally I didn't buy a sim card in Singapore because the direction of the traffic is clearer. And I can communicate with the people there easily. I just go back to the hotel and take advantage of the free internet service there

Thanks. I remember we bought a Singaporean sim card to connect to my friend in Singapore and send him messages. I hope that the traffic there is not as bad in my country.

You can subscribe to different airlines so when they announce that they have seat sales, then you can grab it. Would you like to travel alone?

@LdeL0318 They said it is boring to travel alone but I see some who made it being a solo traveller. Does your partner love to travel too?

@annierose I like to put money away and when I've got enough then I look around to see what cheap offers are available.

I do save a lot but I do not want to splurge all my savings in my trip. It is the reason I plan carefully all my expenses and I always wait for seat sales.

The only foreign country I've been to is Canada, and that was in my youth when a passport wasn't required. I'm hoping to do some traveling, but I don't know when that will be. I'm very happy you were able to book a reasonable fare for your trip to Australia.

@miniam I suggest that you try South East Asian Countries. It is very much different from the USA. I wonder if it will be possible for me to go to USA someday but I won't stop believing that someday, doors will open for me for those first world countries.

I am very keen on travelling to different countries and I have been to most countries in Europe. I went to Australia in 1993/4 and 2000 then I went to New Zealand in 2001/2. I have visited California and Hawaii in 1993. I went back to California on my way to and from New Zealand. In the South Pacific Ocean I have been to Fiji in 1993, French Polynesia and the Cook Islands in 2001 plus Samoa in 2002. In 2005 I went to the Maldives and in 2006 I visited Mexico, Belize plus Guatemala. In Asia I have been to Israel and Jordan in 1998, to Turkey in 2003 and 2018, to Hong Kong in 2000 and to Singapore 4 times. I buy my airline ticket, get travel insurance and book my accommodation. Sometimes I need a visa like I did for India, Sri Lanka and Turkey for my last trip. I also went to the Philippines and Malaysia along with Singapore again.

Nice. That is amazing, good for you. I am also. Pretty frugal when traveling. Most everything to see is free anyway. I have been to Mexico and Sweden.

The only problem is when you get tempted to shop for some items. I tried to control that kind of temptation by thinking I need to save my money for my next adventure trip.

i like to plan ahead too. I am planning for a cruise trip next year. The cruise will start and end in my country, so once I get on board, I start my holiday.

I am hoping for a wonderful holiday for both of us. I have never been in a cruise trip. I guess it is too expensive for me.

@annierose Not really, take a cruise is very cheap compared to a tour package. All the entertainments are free. The accommodation provided for, and you get to eat all sorts of good food whenever you like. There are many cruise ships departing from Hong Kong. You can check out the price.

Yes, it was on promo by Cebu Pacific as well. But the visa fee was not on promo. I spent around 10,000 pesos for those visa fees for I tried it twice. I am not sure if my boyfriend will go with me on Honkong and Macau. If he will be busy then I will go there by myself.

I have been to another country many times in my life. I always planned carefully my trips, checked the weather conditions for the area and what there was interesting to visit.

I do same way too. Have you been to Hong Kong and Macau? Maybe the weather there is just like the weather we have in Philippines.

@LadyDuck Asia is worth visiting as well. The only drawback is that it is too far from your country.

The only country that I've been to was Singapore. That was August 2014, when my younger sister gave it as treat to the whole family.I went there together with my parents, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. We were 19 in all. We had 5 days of fun and very memorable experience. This year, this younger sister of mine, wants me to visit them in Maryland but I think I'll gonna have problems in applying for a visa because of my birth certificate. You're lucky, you've been to many countries already.

I have been only to Singapore too. I applied for a tourist visa and was denied. I don't know if its because of my savings or because I just visited one country only. I love Singapore because that is the first country that I visited outside the Philippines.

@magallon Sure you can! You can make it even one country a year. That is what I am trying to do. Anyway, I have a very demanding job and going on a trip a once a year, I guess, is not that bad.
